It actually made perfect sense other than KO talking to HHH before turning. Like the squash was dumb but KO/Y2J has been really well done and almost everything has been consistent and made sense.

I think it fit perfectly for the story of KO and Jericho riding high because they're cheating assholes, and clearly both were using each other from the start, but grew attached. When Jericho put KO on the path to a quick demise by challenging Goldberg, HHH came down to talk to Owens about what was happening because the belt should be in the hands of a company man, and that Joe will have his back. HHH was the push Kevin needed, as he wasn't going to give up Jericho as his ace in the hole on his own. KO, frustrated and a bit hesitant, agrees, and steels himself to betray Chris in the hopes he won't have a reckless partner, and was sure Jericho was now done forever. They were friends, as you could see the building regret until KO got a taste of why he enjoyed ambushing people who were, "too dumb," to trust him.

Unfortunately, Foley bans Joe to ruin Hunter's idea, and Jericho shows up to cost KO the match. KO has always been about talking big and hurting people close to him when it benefits him in the short term, because he's insecure and cowardly when he could just beat the piss out of people in a straight up fight, and its what makes the character a great heel. He's lying about him not being his best friend because he protects himself from the feeling of guilt, and knowing the betrayal is what sealed the deal for the match going the way it did. KO is responsible for his own actions, but won't cop to it because it's Jericho's fault, and when the HHH thing explodes down the road, it will have been HHH's fault that he lost the championship.

The only real issue I've had is that KO never went after the rear end in a top hat actually responsible for the distraction working: the smart rear end who rang the bell during Jericho's music.

Very weird to tweet to make IF Mauro is dealing with a mental health situation.

I honestly have no idea what the story is with him but Mauro missing a show and going off the radar is his established pattern when he has a mental health situation according people I know who have followed his career or are friendly with him.

If Mauro was fired his many friends in the media would launch the PR defense of him immediately. Instead they are just keeping quiet like you would in a personal situation. That's my POV anyway.

Oh gently caress - he's admitted to being bipolar before:

http://www.sherdog.com/news/articles/Mauro-Ranallo-Battling-a-Stigma-95907

quote:

“I would go through these unbelievable mood swings,” Ranallo said. “I would come into the house with a smile and ask how everyone is doing and then close my bedroom door and suddenly, ‘I’m going to [expletive] kill you.’ It would scare everybody. I think every person on earth is impacted by mental health issues. People think it’s a label, an excuse. It’s not. It’s very real, but it can be dealt with and I’m living proof people can lead functional lives and be bipolar. I first heard the term ‘bipolar’ in 1989 when I was first diagnosed. I was sitting there at 19 and they called me crazy. I was like, ‘[Expletive] you, you’re crazy,’ I told the doctor. I’m not crazy. Then I started seeing things. I wasn’t getting out of bed. I wouldn’t shower. You see the patterns, and these things become apparent. Then you realize that there is something wrong with you. You let it take you over, and sometimes I did.

Hopefully he's alright

How does it make sense for Jericho to throw KO to Goldberg to no reason? That's loving stupid. Even if it did make sense (and it doesn't), it still sucks because it's only a few weeks of buildup. They deserved better.

Goldberg egged him on, got his goat (pun intended), and Jericho thought that they could win, since they always did (what with all the blatant cheating etc).

It made sense in Jericho being super cocky and getting so cocky as to speak for his friend, confident that KO could beat Goldberg. It doesn't make sense in the sense of Jericho saying that actually having any bearing on a match being made.

That says that he thinks the person that beat Brock Lesnar in 30 seconds is no big deal for KO to beat. That's ridiculous. In any case, he's being a horrible friend to accept the match on his behalf without seeing what he thinks about it. It only makes sense if the story will reveal at some point that Jericho has brain damage.

He's a loving dope full of hubris in character who thinks "KO is strong and also my friend who will beat that jerk Goldberg and I will help him and we will be the coolest and strongest". It's really, really not as complicated as you make it out to be. Also Jericho didn't make the match so much as suggested it and Steph/Foley thought it was a good idea and ran with it. This is consistent with WWE canon and happens all the time.

I believe it is impossible for the best heels to be overconfident because their maximum level of confidence is justified and correct. They are always right and always win every dispute, often making anyone else orbiting them look much worse permanently with no other result. its a load of fun
