It's pretty clear that they put zero polish into this game because hoo boy the amount of weird non-gamebreaking things I've found

to wit:

Gil e-mailing Ryder about putting poker night together and mentioning Jaal before we'd even discovered the angara

TWO Jaals spawning during his armor scene with Liam so there was one Jaal clipping through another, stationary Jaal

Scanning an angaran escape pod that had been drifting in space for a decade and getting quarian power strips and turian electronics from it?

Liam and Gil variously clipping through the scenery in a bunch of their idle animations

The fact that they could have improved PeeBee by like 20% and still kept the conceit of her name by just calling her "Pelly"

not being able to skip those traveling between planets animations, like gosh dang y'all how much time do we need to spend on those

For you dudes and dudes who identify as ladies who played the demo- how's it feel beyond the first 10 hours? Specifically, how's the narrative and story? Does it get better? Can romance all the aliens?

For context I liked all the mass effects, loved origins, but really couldn't stand inquisition. Supposedly it had a good story, but it just played like a grindy MMO. Just trying to gauge if I should skip this one.

The way the ship travels between planets is one of the things I liked about this game. I like zooming through a solar system, feels neat. Definitely needs a skip option though.

I figure its loading the whole "You can look out the window and see what planet you're orbiting!" thing but A) I didn't realize it took that long to load a .jpg and B) if that's the case, that "feature" should have been cut instead of keeping this staggeringly bad decision.

Number Ten Cocks posted:

Let's not go too far here. Utnayan said this was going to be a bad game but so did a lot of people and he is also still a crazy person who thinks every triple-A game is sending a legion of shills to SA. He did the same routine with TW3 when it was coming out.

I went into this blind and I cannot believe they made planet scanning worse. They have to patch this out, right? Did the entire dev team have their heads up their own assholes? gently caress. There's tons of other poo poo that is garbage, but whoever made that decision should never work in the industry again.

I got to play for a few hours today and went through the first vault, and I have to say, as negative as I've been on the game, so far I'm actually a little impressed by the scope and ambition thus far. I really liked how you come out of the vault and see the clear sky and all that, but what really impressed me was calling down the settlement and building the outpost. Pretty much all the buildings can be explored and you can access a bunch of terminals and talk to a bunch of non-important NPCs. It's not super important in the grand scheme of things but it does make the world feel larger and more alive, and being able to talk to boring nobodies just for the sake of getting to know them is one thing I've always liked about RPGs.

It's really too bad that almost everything related to the main plot is dreadful.

also when you meet the angara everyone starts talking in english very quickly and I get that there are translators but at no point does SAM or whoever say "hmmm, they have similar translators to ours, let me interface with them and we can communicate."

like it's one! line! that would explain a lot and they didn't put it in.
