Well with sticks alone its not actually that hard at all since we avoid more complicated armor rules, and bladed weapons/shields etc... have their own rules which makes conventional medieval fighting pretty rules heavy, even relative to the actual firearms system. However, two unarmored people bashing eachother with simple blunt instruments is very simple. The fights would be less...interesting with armor to say the least. All people are bringing in nothing but Clothing (5 pounds) and whatever weapon they have. I have assigned a collection of simple blunt weapons into a pool and assigned them all random numbers. I roll dice. Weapon is selected. So like Potato's encumbrance was 7 because the stick weighed 2 pounds and the clothes were 5. Pretty fast paced combat here.

I'm waiting for a recreation of some of the 1-on-1 melee fights that my Space Marines had had: four phases of ineffectual flailing! Or a historical duel outcome: two guys getting increasingly maimed, but refusing to get knocked out.
