Would playing h1z1 kotk training server (respawn) be a good way to get my aiming accuracy up ? Controls are the same I think.

Playing a squad game with a few goons yesterday and somehow I got 3 kills with 3 shots. 2 of them were downed and one was reviving them, but generally I can't hit a barn door with my dick.

No.

There are guns you can use before the match in pubg. H1z1 kotk plays very different than this game. The ballistics/shooting system is different. This game has a bigger variety in distance in engagement and plays more like a 'milsim/ tactical shooter' (think armed assault) while h1z1 is more run and gun.

How real is bullet drop and other grog stuff like that? I'm down, even though that usually isn't my thing, but I don't know how to tell. For instance, I found a crossbow and a dude who was just standing around in inventory or something. I shot a bunch of bolts but nothing seemed to work until I just walked up and pegged him with a pistol. What gives?

I didn't even know a 15x existed. The 8x feels way too zoomed in to be useful except in most situations already, I couldn't imagine 15x.

Also, usually I find multiple 8x scopes in the same buildings as shotguns then die before ever finding a weapon I can even put it on.

The "sighting range" or whatever for the crossbow is 25 meters, after that the bolts drop real bad. The crossbow is basically a close range execution weapon that's remarkable because it will one-shot headshot anyone in level1/level2 helmets. I personally have never killed anyone with it so...

Other guns there is significant bullet drop but only at ranges you will be shooting at with sniper rifles and 8x scopes and imo shooting that far will usually yield nothing and give your position away. It's one of the reasons PUBG is so fun, there is no clearly defined "best" anything, there are situations where every gun in the game is useful and even when you think you're kitted up with an AWM and 8x scope you still gotta actually hit dudes and not get murdered when everyone in a 2k radius hears your shots

Okay, so it's just a 'play by feel' kind of thing, which is really what I was hoping for. It seems like firefights are short and brutal enough that it doesn't much matter how realistic the guns are, you're either alive or dead and it usually makes sense. Cool, time to jump out of another airplane in my skivvies and shotgun some idiots.

the crossbow is actually ridiculously powerful if you're tacticool enough and is also genuinely an amazing weapon in the late late game

sacriel, a high level streamer for this game, unironically loves to use the crossbow because he's already very good at determining shot dropoff from playing these kinds of games. He pulls off some insane shots real casually a lot.

Yeah, if you can land hits with it the crossbow is great. It's just really unforgiving if the enemy knows where you are and you flub it.

I've made a few changes to the way I play that has helped me get top 10 a lot more reliably, as a bad player.

Hiding in a bush is crazy good, I always used to try and hide around corners and poo poo but just sitting in a bush has gotten me so many kills.

I used to land at the most remote house I could reach and go on foot, but a car is such a huuuuge advantage its crazy. I now land at the furthest car I can reach, loot the nearest house and then drive off to a high loot place away from the circle. Driving back in and not having to run to chase the circle is great. I thought a car would make me a prime target with the noise and stuff but I haven't really noticed a difference and the mobility is amazing.

Willie Tomg

With cars in solo its 50/50 whether they shoot you or let you go, and the kind of folks who take random shots of opportunity like that are usually not so great at it as long as you move perpendicularly and not straight toward/away from them.

Had a match where I dropped to a small area with a couple houses. Got to the ground same time as some other dude.

LoL so we both go running frantically for guns. I get a frying pan he gets a crowbar or something. He chases me and I run off, I get to the next house and shut the door behind me which gives me just enough time to pick up a shotty and ammo. He gets into the room and I dodge him and run out, reload and fire at him. I miss, fire again and miss again. Now he's chasing me again and I run off to a shed and find a frag grenade.

I get back into a house he comes through the door, I toss the grenade and it goes up the stairs and blows up. Then I get my pan out, chase him out the door, and a third person starts firing at us. We scatter, and then I ended up getting killed by the crowbar guy as I'm trying to take cover.

This game is either a serious tense battle or hilarious slapstick clumsyness. https://youtu.be/PkGwI7nGehA

Yeah, I just had a game where I made it to the third-to-last circle and it was a blast because I was just demo derbying every car rushing in and even scored a roadkill off some dude who tried to hop out and shoot at me. First game I'd picked up a kar98k and an 8x together too, which was way way way less fun/useful than a jeep in gently caress it mode

Also my friend is having trouble with loading houses and poo poo when we are dropping, making early combat a no no when we are duo'ing. Any ideas to improve it for him? He is running some early gen quad core I think (haven't asked), 970, 8g ram and unfortunately no SSD. So I think his system should be able to do it, unless the lack of an SSD is really that big of an issue.

Can't get no luck.

Can't help but just to say I get the same thing and I do have an SSD so I suspect that's not it. It's not quite so bad that I can't fight early game but I do get occasional stutters where my screen will freeze for about a second and if one of those comes at the wrong time then I'm obviously screwed.

My spec:

Core i7 950 (so, early quad core but one of the better ones), 6gb tri-channel RAM, GTX 660, plus a quite recent SSD (so a good and fast one). Everything is a little underpowered except my SSD. I feel like maybe the low amount of RAM is a bit of a factor but it's hard to tell. I run other games like Overwatch just fine.

I can add than I'm running with 8g myself and the game generally runs very smooth so I doubt it's the ram for him (ram speed shouldn't have any effect for application right?). Maybe it really is a CPU issue and we should find a way for the 970 to take more of the load and I guess I'll get him to run hwmonitor to see if it's throttling (maybe the paste is getting old and the cooler could need a reinstalment).

Yeah, moving my install to my SSD made things a lot smoother all around. Tell your friend to buy one, 120 Gig versions are very cheap and that's enough space for your Windows install and a few of your most played games.

I have been telling him that and it is the next thing he will get when he has the money. Funny thing is, he just formatted his drive too (since his :filez: windows install didn't wanna install the correct visual C++ to run the game). Guess he'll have to do that again (since having an SSD without the windows install being on it is just silly).

Holy crap managed to finally get a win.

Ended up spawning on the tower near Swamp Town that had a SCAR-L in it, then getting lucky and finding a buggy right near it since the circle was all the way by Novorepnoye. Drove over there only seeing one person, also in a buggy, but made my way to the Radio tower thinking that was going to be the center of the circle. It ended up being way to the south-east of the tower but because of where I was I ended up coming from the backside of the circle, from the ocean in, and with that I ended up being able to see almost everyone else try to cram into the circle.

Since I was on the bottom of the hill I could easily spot people trying to hide behind bushes and picked them off. Including the last two people who had no real fuckin clue where I was.

SM4 should no longer be used as of two patches ago, it now causes extreme frame hitching in most cases. The memalloc option never did anything whatsoever, that's a launch option for arma's engine, not unreal. Use all cores is the only option in there that might do anything beneficial.

I really agree and it's interesting how similar yet different this is from the whole dayz standalone failure. Both were based on successful arma mods and did very well on their early access releases. Battlegrounds seems to have taken everything good about arma 3 br and improved it, unlike dayz SA which never made it back to the level of the original mod in my opinion.

I'm really hoping someone makes a good dayz clone in this when moding becomes available.

Up until it got released on Steam, there were 3 planes flying in a line that dropped everyone off. So people in the front plane had an advantage over people in the back plane.

DayZ SA is weird. I absolutely got my money's worth from that game, and yet it's a tremendous disappointment. It's probably because when I wasn't squadding up specifically to go pick fights I was perfectly content to make my way along the edges of the map, slowly finding every attachment for an M4 in the really disused military bases along the western side. Also the zombies might as well not have existed so I'm basically describing the first 10 minutes of Battlegrounds, spread over 4-5 hours.

Battlegrounds has the cargo plane fly back over at a few minute intervals and drops supply crates that are guaranteed to have high tier weapons and gear, which might add to the confusion.
