It's not just the toast, it's the credit card usage. If your net worth growth is positive, you're good no matter how much you spend on frivolous or expensive things. Credit cards obfuscate that, since you don't have to pay off the balance. Your bank account can seem to grow but if you don't account for your growing debt you get upside down quick. I guess the perspective is odd? Your vs you're is intentional. Your "perfect" is different from my "perfect" BrianBoitano has a new favorite as of 12:06 on May 19, 2017 |

Bertrand Hustle posted:People are jumping on the "avocado on toast" thing but that was just an outrageous example to illustrate his point, which is "millennials spend too much money on things rabble rabble I'm old" I remember I was watching some documentary about fast food or something and there was this really young couple with 2 kids who ate fast food every day and the father said how for $20 he could feed 4 people (2 of whom were kids). Well no loving poo poo, this is why you're poor you loving idiot! I mean come on $20 for a single meal, that's like more than twice than anyone with the bare basic skill of "can boil water" would need to make a meal for 4, let alone 2 adults and 2 kids. Obviously the avocado toast doesn't really directly relate to this not only because avocado toast is ridiculous on it's own but because nobody lives on avocado toast, it's just another stupid luxury to splurge on and what luxuries people want to waste their disposable income on is their own business, but made me think of the most glaring example I ever saw of poor people being poor because they're stupid. Think I'll go make myself an avocado toast with feta.

I can only wonder how many of these "stupid poors" came from uneducated households, and how many of those came from other uneducated households, and how long it has gone on. Five dollars doesn't sound like a lot of money at first thought, and it's not unreasonable to think that's a decent price for a filling meal with no cleanup and no effort and unlimited soda refills, and so it goes on that the person continues to drop twenty bucks a meal without realizing how much they're spending and how much they could save by eating at home. This doesn't excuse them for being wasteful, but it helps us to understand why, especially since parents and schools often neglect to teach basic logic and critical thinking skills; they might instill the ability to do math, but they don't always impress ways to apply it.

This guy got his first house on his bosses dime and second on his grandfathers dime. Right now the younger generation spends a good percentage more of their income on housing combined with the fact that there is nowhere near the job security there used to be. Every single one of these 'I did it on my own' people had huge amounts of help from others and just discounts it because they're entitled.

It's basically yet another example of a spoiled rich manchild who had everything handed to him on a silver platter pretending to be a self made man and complaining about young people these days. See also: Donald Trump, a less eloquent male Paris Hilton who has managed to fool people into thinking he knows how to run a business.

Taxes are a complicated project with a deadline you know about a year in advance. They require reading directions very carefully because you're not sure what the person evaluating your work really cares about. Your best resource is older people who've done this before. Sounds like every public school project I've done. School prepares you for taxes, just not in the way you think

Taxes are easy, unless you own property all over the country and run several for-profit and charity organisations at the same time. When you're in your twenties, it requires almost zero effort.
