So you can double-fist all one-handed ranged weapons, not just pistols? Ballin.

Yes. You can also mix them (wand/sceptre, wand/pistol, pistol/blunderbuss) or mix melee and ranged (pistol/sabre, wand/flail, whatever). If you do the latter, you will use the appropriate weapon for whatever range you're at. I.e., if you're close, you'll use the melee weapon. If you're out of melee range, you'll use (only) the ranged weapon.

What's the deal with the magic ranged weapons? Like who is making these things and selling them? Do people go like shoot deer with them?

The mixed weapons is kind of cool, but I worry it's kinda niche when you have spare weapon sets. I guess it avoids the need to ever deal with weapon swap downtime, but aren't you permanently less effective at both ranged and melee as a result (compared to dual wielding two melee or two ranged weapons)?

Trying to think of the Poe1 possibilities for this. Knocking an enemy prone with Puitènte med Príncipi and then wading in with Vierina's Leaves would be kinda funny.

FWIW I had the same issue with the PoE 1 animation for blunderbuss firing -- it looked badass but definitely in the realm of "fantasy poses real bodies could not accomplish" type thing.

If we're really getting technical the one-handed pistol blunderbuss was termed a "dragon" (hence dragoon) If something has a stock it's generally intended to be fired using the stock, not just freehanded Make the blunderbuss the bastard sword of guns, with different stats depending on 1 vs 2 hand use Hieronymous Alloy fucked around with this message at 21:24 on Aug 14, 2017 |

I don't remember if grimoire slam is being ported to Deadfire, but if so I propose replacing it with "sceptre bash".

Hieronymous Alloy posted:If we're really getting technical the one-handed pistol blunderbuss was termed a "dragon" (hence dragoon) The kick of a black powder weapon is dependent on what you load it with. A blunderbuss could be loaded with a mild or heavy charge. One-handed blunderbusses were called dragons, but a dragon is a type of blunderbuss, and I think more people are familiar with "blunderbuss" and what that implies.

I guess it avoids the need to ever deal with weapon swap downtime, but aren't you permanently less effective at both ranged and melee as a result (compared to dual wielding two melee or two ranged weapons)? This really depends on how the weapon style talents are going to work. If you get the benefit on one weapon style, there could be a use for it. Maybe the mixed ranged and melee will have its own talent. Maybe it will even get the attack speed boost from two weapon style. Since we don't know anything about whether or not the talents are the same, it's hard to make a judgement here. That said, I think it's likely this is going to be cool as hell, but fairly situational. Based on what we know now and how PoE works, you could have an Aumaua who carries seven pistols and a sabre, shoots seven times, then flips the pistol over to a club and fights with two weapons in melee. That still isn't necessarily better than just using an eighth pistol. And it's not so easy, under the current system, to imagine a use for wand and sword.

If Aumaua still have that extra weapon set talent I'm gonna make an Aumaua who is like Reaper from Overwatch and dual wield blunderbusses (or pistols I suppose if that's no doable) and I'll keep swapping to a new weapon set after each shot.

I really hope that the new AI system is going to be powerful enough that players can take advantage of gun-switching shenanigans without it being a chore like in PoE 1.

As long as there's an AI option to set party members to fire one shot and then switch to melee I'll be happy.

I had to liquefy food, draw it into a syringe, and feed it directly into her stomach through the tube three/two times a day. After being essentially force fed for three months, her liver resumed normal functions and she made a full recovery. If your cat stops eating, take them to the vet. We probably could have arrested the fatty liver disease if I had considered the symptoms more seriously earlier. Holy poo poo your cat looks just like mine. He lost 4.5 lbs last year and I was really paranoid this would happen (it didn't). Glad your little fuzzypants is doing better! Nice cat daddin' btw.

Sorry to hear about the cat problems, rope kid, but glad to hear she's doing better now. I'm excited for bombs, though I'm wondering if they'll just be a one-time AoE damage splash or they'll also have more interesting effects. For example, some of those bombs seem to linger, so I'm wondering if it'll be possible to use them to create damaging or healing surfaces. Also wonder if the Alchemy skill will come into play when reverse pickpocketing bombs on people. I'm really excited for the gameplay opportunities, it sounds like the game will be inherently more open than the original between the new world map, the day-night schedules for the NPC, the pickpocketing and stealth improvements, and the overhauled skill system, not to mention the new multiclasses and subclasses.

# ? Aug 16, 2017 09:53 |
Wow, I thought the tube for Animancy Cat was for flavor, I didn't know you could do that to real cats. Glad she's ok! How do bombs differ mechanically from scrolls? The ones that were shown seemed to be straight up AoE damage of different types. They require the Alchemy skill to use (and craft?), anything else? They have a more limited range?

This is just my guess, but now that magic has been overhauled with longer cast times, scrolls will follow suit. They might also have revised how many spells will get their equivalent scrolls, etc.
