DTS too? I've had a Roku Premiere+ for several months for my parents and that loving thing has had audio sync issues since I got it for them, solely with DTS. I hope this legitimately finally fixes it.

DTS seems fine, just tested it out and everything looks ok.

Let's hope it also fixes the bug where it randomly errors, stops doing a direct play, and then insists on transcoding until a reboot.

AppleTV 4K supports HEVC (which is the same as h265 I think?) according to the spec sheet. Does that mean the Plex App should be able to stream H265 files on the local network without transcoding? Or does the Plex app need to do some kind of update to allow that?

It may need an update for the device profile, other than that, nothing different.

I’m waiting til someone else gets one and goes through a comprehensive list of all the formats out there people use. I have an Xbone S and a Smart TV and nothing out there works right in Plex, always gets transcoded to x264. Hoping the Apple TV 4K breaks the cycle.

This happened to me a few months ago, it was some port on my router refusing to open via UPNP. The uptime was months long and I guess the buffer didn't clear or something. A quick reboot of the router and I signed out/in to Plex again in PKC and it was fine.

Restarted the router but don't think it worked. PKC is working fine on the HTPC, but if I browse to Plex in Chrome it still makes me click "login insecurely" or whatever.

Everything would be so much easier if I could use Plex for watching and recording TV.

When I go to the Plex webapp it is asking me to login using an email account. Is this new? I'm not even sure what email account I used when I set up Plex and have always used a screen name before.

There seemed to be an implied "I need help out of this paper bag." We here in the Plex thread are known to be willing to assist in minor troubleshooting.

I misread and was desperately hoping we had an inside goon at Plex that could help me understand why my HD channels don't work on Live TV with my HD Homerun. I'm going to be cancelling my Plexpass because of that.

This is what I get for speed posting during lunch.

Are they cable channels, or over-the-air channels?

Does anyone generate video preview thumbnails? The live skimming feature on the AppleTV is neat and helpful, but I've never enabled it because it seems like that would take a long time to render and eat up a crap ton of space.

It's cable, but not through a box. I get local HD and basic SD with direct connection. The SDs work great on FireTV but not HD which crashes PLEX. Works fine with web player.

I do and it does. My thumbnail cache is currently at 86gb.

The transcoding part ain't so bad it's only for a few minutes after the file is added. I'm not worried about space except I have it all on my primary SSD for speed so I gotta make sure it doesn't fill up. It's worth it for me.

Video preview works for several clients now, including Android TV (though on that platform I'd say it doesn't work that great). The two best for preview thumbnails are the ATV and Roku, the latter of which Plex originally created the thumbnail feature for.

If you have friends/family with Roku's you do remote sharing with they will find it incredibly handy, at least mine do. Video preview works great on the Roku and it's also the only real way to seek accurately on them - if you don't have them enabled you'll just see a blank box when ff/rw.

Also, the ATV will auto-create thumbnails for most .mp4 containers, whether you have preview enabled or not, assuming you stream direct.

I have about 500 movies and 2,000 TV episodes and my preview cache is about 74gb.

I thought the generated thumbnails only work on AppleTV if the video is in an Apple friendly container like mp4 but not MKV. 99% of my stuff doesn't show thumbnails unless I pre-optimize them with Plex.

Does plex have no way to add a USB stick as a sync'able device?

I usually load some movies and shows onto a stick, to watch in the car when I'm sitting for extended periods of time

Problem is some of the files are in the wrong format to play on the car's entertainment , so i wanted to sync them to my USB stick and have them all converted to the same format

The LiveTV is pretty dope with the app. I'm at a family party and able to watch the football game steaming from my plex while still enjoying the outdoors. What a time to be alive. No cable subscription required.

Plex needs non-piracy reasons to exist. This seems like a decent one that pairs well with the DVR.

Reminds me a little of Haystack TV, which is also a aggregate news source you can add to the Google Live Channels app. I use Live Channels for TV and Haystack is a really nice addition.

If Plex news works like that then it's a solid, and necessary, addition to their Live TV service.

Can someone explain to me how to name kids TV shows that air two episodes within the one episode? I've read the FAQs on tvdb.com and the FAQs on the Plex website and I still can't work it out. I've got PAW Patrol for my kids and the data is completely inaccurate.

My files on my hard drive are set up as:
s01e01 - Episode 1 Name - Episode 2 Name
S01e02 - Episode 3 Name - Episode 4 Name

TVDB has it listed like this:
1.1 Episode 1 Name
1.2 Episode 2 Name
2.1 Episode 3 Name
2.2 Episode 4 Name

Ideally, I'd probably just want the X.1 episode name and thumbnail to be displayed but I don't really care if there is two thumbnails play the same episode as long as the thumbnails are actually accurate.
