Its true but it has little to do with why 3.0 isn't out, as they were just doing environment work. And that really isn't in the top 10 of why shits hosed right now. They didn't break their contract they just didn't renew it.

They claim that it was 60 actual players in fighter ships. gently caress knows if its real but after what we saw at Citcon its likely they made some major breakthroughs. Itd be wrong of us to assert its fake given how wrong we have been

There wasn't always heavy censorship, at least not obvious stuff at first. IIRC it wasn't until sometime between the LTI Uprisings and when Arena Commando released and the great Flight Model Wars began. At first they just katamari'd posts they didn't like from a really wide range of barely related poo poo, making those subjects too hard to meaningfully follow (especially without being able to tell where posts/threads originated once spliced in) with their fast and loose qualifiers. It was well contained from normal sight since most folks avoided the forum mosh pits since it was still a hopeful time and circlejerking still didn't require erection enhancements for a lot of the og's, but eventually the waters of discontent started overflowing the levees of the toxic waste pits they were consigned to.

That's when they came up with the 'concern' forum, a special walled garden gulag to hide unsightly posts and naughty hints of disbelief or talk of accountability in a dungeon far from public view and even obscured from wide eyed inductees. Moderation became increasingly heavy handed as dreams continued to collide with reality, a patch a time back when they still did that and at some point they needed even more control to maintain the narrative. CIG had long since recognized r/starcitizen was where the whales really hung out anyhow, so they capitalized on the existing arrangement once the katamari's and Concern forum and brownshirting was no longer enough to staunch the flow coming from the cracks.

Enter, Spectrum. They made a site that's basically their own little North Korea that makes it easy to keep up appearances and disappear anyone/anything unbefitting of dear leader's visionTM but also made such a lovely mess of the forum for users that there was a critical mass herd migration to reddit. There they can generally maintain the narrative between sycophant brigades, retards on reddit, sunk cost grey marketers and good ole astroturfing etc, though outside the hugbubble of r/sc they often get drown in the bathtub of facts by non cultists that recognize the situation is laughably abnormal 6 years/160mil into this fever dream.

You bring back all the cozy memories.

By the way, I had some real :argh: moments with Truga back in those days. Truga I think you are a great poster and I love your humor. Please don't take it bad that I raged at you in some stupid mouse or joystick discussion for a vaporware game.

Thanks for digging that out, I missed that completely. So Behaviour got officially blamed for 3.0 being a year late, does anyone remember if CR actually said anything along the same lines about the Ilfonic guys? It's interesting that the Ilfonic stuff was shown, it actually looked cool as gently caress and that was the moment I genuinely thought to myself 'poo poo, CIG are getting their act together here'.

loving seriously, why is it even a 'thing'? It's utterly pointless, useless, worthless, dull, boring, not something anyone needs to add to a computer game. Do 'citizens' actually think this is a feature worthy of having money thrown at it, rather than some smidgen of actual playable gameplay?

It is a thing because there is no game. They can't make progress on the engine, the networking, the gameplay, the performance, and have no idea what any of the game systems are or will be. Therefore motion capture, "lore", alien "languages", cityscapes, etc. forge ahead full speed because that makes it look like something is getting done.

If you learn the language, you might be able to overhear them talking among each other at a bar. You might be able to use that information to beat them to a score, and get the drop on them in a deep space heist.

You see, the subsumption AIs will audibly carry on foreign language conversations with each other, just within earshot, at the bars you're all going to be hanging out at.

Star Citizen
CLOUD IMPERIUM GAMES – 2015

Star Citizen is an upcoming space trading and combat simulator video game for Microsoft Windows and Linux. Star Citizen will consist of two main components: first-person space combat (first-person shooter elements and trading in a massive multiplayer persistent universe) and customizable private servers (branching single-player and drop-in co-operative multiplayer campaign). The game is built on a modified CryEngine and will feature Oculus Rift support.

For this very ambitious project, Chris Roberts (Wing Commander) asked Behaviour Interactive to take care of the art for Star Citizen and make sure the quality of every graphic element reaches a level of quality never seen before. The result is a breathtaking universe that already generated more than $73 million dollars.

AFAIK Behavior never had anything to do with their procgen tech. That's all "in-house" and always was intended to be, according to the stretch goal that unlocked it. Why anyone would assume otherwise is beyond me.

$41M stretch goal text, for context:

quote:

Procedural Generation R&D Team – This stretch goal will allocate funding for Cloud Imperium to develop procedural generation technology for future iterations of Star Citizen. Advanced procedural generation will be necessary for creating entire planets worth of exploration and development content. A special strike team of procedural generation-oriented developers will be assembled to make this technology a reality.

So doing a little light browsing, I found the California Secretary of State business search site https://businesssearch.sos.ca.gov/ .

Looking at the listing for Roberts Space Industries, a Delaware corporation (not unusual) I noticed that they typically file their required statements of information late. Again not unusual for them.

But looking at the listings for Gemini 42 Productions LLC and Gemini 42 Entertainment LLC, both of which are located at the same address of RSI, something seemed odd.

They both filed the required Statement of Information on 8/4/17 - submitted by Steven Kam (Toast).

The unusual thing is that another Statement of Information for Gemini 42 Entertainment was filed on 9/29/17 - this time by Karen Oto, Controller.

Since these are only supposed to be filed every two years or upon a material change of the information, I wonder what it all means. I am no lawyer, but this sort of thing is interesting to me.

Any insights?
