JEEVES420 posted:Do I need to watch DD2 before watching The Punisher tomorrow? I started watching DD and I am 10 episodes in but would much rather watch The Punisher as it was my favorite comic growing up. Watch the first 4 episodes of DD2 and look up the prison fight scene on youtube, don't need anything else.

I'd at least watch the first half of DDs2, yes. Not only to get a feel for the character but because it's pretty loving great.

Having not seen Punisher I have no idea how "necessary" Daredevil is, but it does seem like a a lot to just skip considering Karen plays a role in Punisher and Frank had a lot of stuff in DD S2.

sticklefifer posted:Really the entire Hand were a waste aside from Gao. Everyone else got offed before actually accomplishing anything, or was bland like Bakuto. I'd be all for Gao surviving though, she's cool. Aside from the fact that practically every character lets her make some big speech that throws them off balance while also moaning "Could someone please shut her up!?" How about you. You shut her up. You have the ability to do that. I might guess people just liked it better that way?

The punisher stuff in DD was easily the high point of the season. You can probably manage without watching it, but it's there when you binge through Punisher and want more.

At least the dude sold it pretty well. Sidenote he said that as soon as I clicked on the spoiler so A+ timing. Digging this so far. Bernthal is very good. He will easily carry this season to the end for me, whether it ends up being rocky or what.

I'm 5 episodes deep, and frankly this is one of the most intelligent and thoughtful things to come out of the MCU to date. It's currently (and I'm dreading it going wrong later in the series) tied with Jessica Jones for me in terms of Having Something to Say, and not shying away from tackling some seriously deep societal issues head on. We've got PTSD, veterans' sense of abandonment by the state, the US goverment commiting war crimes. This is no "gently caress yeah, Punisher" that the fashier side of comic fandom pop a chubby for. There's still a touch of "cake and eat it" in having a bit of gun porn and some very bloody fights, but so far (and I really have to stress the "so far") this is a portrait of a broken man, as guilty and complicit as those he kills, after being weaponised by the US military to do evil things. Jessica Jones was the "dumb superhero show" that handled the subject of abuse, all forms of it, possibly better than anything else I've seen. Punisher right now is the "dumb superhero show" calling out the CIA, the US military, and America's endless war foreign policy. loving hell gang, this owns.

I'm on episode 10 and I'm wondering why Frank isn't isn't wearing a bulletproof vest at this point and where all this extra blood is coming from. He's been shot 3 times and has enjoyed an arrow to the chest by my count

I'm really liking Dana. A Middle Eastern woman playing a serious role who, at least not yet, hasn't been sexualized or fetishized and isn't a Muslim and proudly identifies herself as an American. Dodging a lot of stereotype bullets.
