Ho-oh is pretty mediocre compared to other legendaries and even non legendary Pokemon so long as it doesn't have a STAB quick move.

Really useful vs Suicune and the legendary birds

Because people keep asking about it, might as well repost this from the old thread: List of cross-generation evolutions that have anything to do with what we can collect right now: Gen 3
Gen 4
Gen 5
Gen 6
Gen 7
In other words, there's nothing you previously collected that you need to worry about for gen 3 because it's just two baby forms. Gen 4 is the one with everything.

It’s my turn to post that the Extreme weather classification is garbage. There is nothing extreme about light snowfall at 0 Celsius.

If I had to guess the extreme weather shenanigans are due to the Pokémon Company being overzealous and lawyer-y about safety. Sucks that it actually directly affects gameplay, unlike the excessive driving warnings.

Does anyone notice the weather bringing out pokemon that weren't already common to their biome? For me it seems to only bring out stuff that was already spawning in my area. I wonder if that's by design or just bad luck on my part, because it would suck if it's still biome restricted. Bear Retrieval Unit fucked around with this message at 14:15 on Dec 10, 2017 |

I had most of the weekend to myself, and spent it wandering around hunting the new mons. A few observations... Being able to catch weather-boosted Pokemon over level 30 with increased IVs is nuts, and borderline broken (not that I'm complaining). Assembling a decent raid team used to take actual effort. Now, it can easily be done in a few days, provided you have sufficient candy stockpiled. I caught a 97% IV Geodude at level 35. I had enough Geodude candy saved up, so a quick couple evolutions, a charge TM, and a little stardust, and I had an instant, top-tier raid attacker ready to go. While I think this perhaps makes things too easy, I do like that it puts emphasis back on hunting and exploring, while at the same time drastically reducing the importance of stardust and simultaneously making candy good for something other than powering up raid catches. For me personally, I think I'm pretty much done spending stardust on anything that's not a legendary -- you can basically catch whatever you need now, IVs be damned. Of course, with everyone having access to this, maybe IVs become even more important for hitting that top breakpoint and squeezing out that last bit of damage? Who knows. At any rate, I love the new update -- it looks great, plays great, and adds a fresh new dimension to the game. Apropos of nothing, has anyone seen a Mudkip? I've caught a Torchic and a Treecko, but I haven't even seen a Mudkip, and I live in a pretty water-centric biome. I've spotted multiple Squirtles and Tototdiles, but strangely, zero Mudkips.

it's just going to make charge TMs even more valuable - now my golem army can all be level 35 (presumably) but I'm still going to need the right moveset and considering I've gotten one fast and one charge TM in three months , whee

We've seen before that biomes and events can spawn pokemon based on their final evolution type rather than their current type (for example, Slugma showing up during the Rock event even though it doesn't get Rock-type until it evolves to Magcargo). Mudkip isn't Water/Ground but its final evo is - do you live in an area with a lot of Ground-types?

I like how this is what's qualifying as extreme weather for Niantic. Can't wait to see how it is in an actual storm.

Phanpy, Gligar, and Rhyhorn are all common enough and Woopers spawn like Pidgeys.

I've also found a bunch of Vulpix and it's snowing here. Also, no bonuses for most of the day due to "extreme" weather, i.e. 2 cm of snow.

The weather was extreme all day here, from the light snow in the morning to the rain in the afternoon. I get what they were going for, but the weather system seems more or less inoperative in this area because we’ll be under various kinds of weather advisories until spring.

Is there any reason to keep dragon tail as a legacy move on gyarados or should I flip these bitches over?

I suppose it may be useful to have an attacker with double Dragon moves that is not weak to Dragon moves itself in case there are ever raids on Dragon types. But you can also just throw more Dragonites at it.
