i wish there was a single player mtg game where you start with a 3rd edition starter deck and some booster packs and you can pick up more packs by winning matches or buying them with in game currency and also as you progress through the campaign the expansions start to get released and there could be different gimmick matches where certain colours or mechanics are locked out so you have to keep chopping and changing your decks around according to the situation

that would be a cool game i would play
the pokemon ccg game for gameboy color was like that.

Also there's Slay the Spire and Dream Quest which are both very good singleplayer deck-building games but they're not like MTG at all.

ive been playing with magnuts tying to change the wold as we know it

This weekend I finally got around to playing Hyper Light Drifter after playing for half hour a year ago and not returning. I'm so glad I went back to it. Here's my review of Hyper Light Drifter: It's so loving good and atmospheric and the controls feel tight and the music dynamically shifts as you progress through areas and culminates in extremely rad boss music oh and also the bosses are some of the best bosses of all time and each one feels so good to defeat. The game has an upgrade system, but aside from a few very helpful upgrades you aren't significantly more powerful at the end than you were at the start. However, you as a player will be MUCH better at the combat system at the end to the point that you FEEL more powerful just because you know when to dodge, when to attack, and when to unload a shotgun into something's face. Also the game has this great audio/visual language, where in some areas you can hear that there's a secret or a powerful item in the area when you enter it. You hear the cues and then know that there's some good poo poo hiding within the area. The game also hides gear bits and hidden keys everywhere and once you start to notice the telltale signs on the ground you'll find all kinds of goodies stashed away. The game never explicitly tells you that there'll be audio and visual clues to inform you that there are secrets in the area, you'll just pick up on these things as you explore the game.

It's one of my favorite gaming experiences. If HLD is sitting in your backlog, please play it for a bit to see if it wows you the way it has me. It'll feel pretty hard at the start, but after a little bit the combat and exploration will click into place and the rest of the game will be a joy. I highly recommend it.

For you guys that have played it, there's a sound effect that sounds like metal ball bearings clicking together rapidly. I thought it was just part of the natural soundtrack, but it is only in certain areas and intensifies as you move to certain spots in these area. What are these indicating? I can't find anything online but I'm sure someone who has played more than me has figured it out.

The only thing I don't like about Night in the Woods is that you have to play through the game multiple times to see everything.

I've been playing X-COM 2, after getting hooked on the current ChristoperOdd series about it and kismet deciding to put it on sale for :20bux: .

It's pretty tight so far. I've been chewing through rookies at an embarrassing rate relative to where I currently am in the plot, but that's what they exist for, right? The wonky hit probability (something X-COM has become infamous for) has so far been a nice mix of aggravating and yet sometimes very awesome.

Getting a critical shot on an enemy in a clutch moment? Nice!
Dodging two enemy overwatches on a mad dash to an evac zone? Nice!
Having a Viper slither up and bind one of your troopers and suffocate them to death before you can save them? Boo!

Anyhow, it's a nice if sometimes overwhelming-seeming game, so I don't regret spending more than I usually would on a big-budget title like it.

The ranger skill that gives you a free automatic melee attack for any enemy in an adjacent square is really fun vs sneks.
It even works when the snakes do the tongue grab to pull you in for a hug. They pull you over and the ranger immediately chops them up

hi i've randomly been playing the pokemon tcg game on my 3ds since i found out i had like seven bucks of credit sitting on my account, and it is cool and good

observations:
-i wish there was a game just like this but more modern. i mean this game has a total of 220 cards in it lol

-pokemon cards have some serious design flaws lol, going first is an absolutely huge advantage and there's nothing you can do about it except hope you win the coin flip

-so many coin flips oh man. most tcgs are built around deck building, this one is based around deck building and praying to that little pikachu coin.

-some pokemon types seem to be objectively bad just based around the card pool available and what it means for the decks that are possible. on the flip side, electric is godly because a ton of their one-energy attacks on basic dudes have a (coin flip chance) of paralysis, and you can slot in other effects like hitting the bench.

-lol you can't use a card in more than one deck so if you want staples like bill and prof oak you need to grind out a bunch of them. luckily each booster "set" only has like sixty cards and you get two packs of twenty for every win so you can get them fast, but stiilllllll.

Fun tip for pokemon tcg

In a normal, paper game of pokemon, if you fail to find a basic pokemon to play at the start of the game, your opponent gets to draw a card. The video game, however, has forgotten this rule.

Therefore you can make decks with minimal basics and load your deck with tons of support cards, as long as you don’t mind shuffling a bunch. Certain types pull this off better- fighting can just use 4 Hitmonchan, electric 4 Electabuzz- but regardless it’s an interesting way to play the game.
