I have it, but I am not good.

I am completely terrible at FPS games anymore, so I just live vicariously through others on Twitch (like Shroud or Edberg) while playing Path of Exile or The Division (solo in PvE only). I did pick up Sniper, Ghost Warrior 3 on sale from Steam a couple weeks ago and played it for a fair amount, and I'm messing around with Wolcen (a Diablo like AARPG) but it's in very early Alpha so there isn't a huge amount of content and it crashes a lot.

I like sniping games, but PvP games like PUBG I am nothing but a target so I no longer even try.

I'm not super into audio stuff but I'm really happy with my setup. I've got a Yamaha RX-V675 receiver handling a pair of Polk audio Monitor 70 Series II Floorstanding speakers, a Polk Audio CS2 Series II Center Channel, and a pair of Polk Audio PSW505 12" subs. The second sub was completely unnecessary but I really wanted the visual symmetry so I got another when it was on sale.

I don't generally care about consoles (:pcgaming:) but I bought a switch and love the thing. I thought the mobile console gimmick was stupid and expected to have it permanently docked but I was wrong and it's great. Having a controller in each hand is so much more comfortable than just having one little controller. Zelda BotW, Mario Odyssey, and Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle are all excellent.

Polk's downright decent for the money, and is also what I've been using in my cars for years - sub and cabin.

We had one get shot in the line of duty last week. The turnout was incredible - fire trucks (and tow trucks) hoisting flags over bridges, roads lined with both civilians and LEOs, etc.

The Russ Martin Show broadcast the Richardson PD "end of watch" police radio broadcast during their show today, and it kinda choked me up a bit.. RMS is a big supporter of cops and fire, and always writes some big checks to the widows/remaining family, and the Richardson officer that was killed last week was no exception.

Took the kids 90 miles away to Grandma’s and also so I can catch up with some friends and see a show tomorrow. 3 year olds just popped a fever which I’m terrified, please don’t be the flu! So many deaths around here from it.

And also my hotel tomorrow is booked on credit card points and I’m 2 hours past the cancellation and refund point. I feel the universe is smacking me for doing something for myself. I just need to only focus on the kids.

All that matters isn’t kid ok I pray she will be.

Way back when I was a kid with my first car, I drove to downtown L.A. to meet a friend and his guy to buy some weed - up until that time I had only ever gotten smoked out or tossed a friend :10bux: or whatever, so going downtown for ~an eighth~ felt like a big deal (disclaimer: I was by no means a cool teenager nor did I hang out with cool teenagers). I got off the freeway, drove a couple blocks, turned a corner and drove underneath two LAFD ladder trucks extended out over the road with a giant flag hanging underneath... a couple of cops closed a barricade behind me, and I proceeded the next five blocks as the last car on a closed police funeral route, with the entire LAPD/LASD/local LEO crew en-force lining the road on either side and idly eyeing me as I cruised by.

It was equal parts terrifying, exhilarating and hilarious.

I have to decide between staying in the midwest at my comfortable, safe job or accepting an offer to move to California for a dream job. On paper it seems like a pretty clear case to chase the dream, but giving up the chance to raise my kids in the relative calm and keep my current job security is tearing me apart inside.

Being an adult is hard, I just want to play video games and listen to music that's way too loud.

California being too California is probably the biggest drawback right now. It would either be close to Palo Alto or south of Sacramento, leaning towards Sacramento for at least some possibility of owning a home after we move. We have a house in a fairly populated suburb here, so population density in a Sacramento suburb would be about the same. What the hell are people thinking with property values in the bay area, it's unbelievable.

We've also had a crazy amount of snow this year and frigid temps. I would miss the change of seasons but flying from -12F to 68F was pretty encouraging.

I'm not positive but I think housing prices in CA might be driven by a law of economics known as "Supply and Demand", but it's possible it's a plot schemed up by evil Californians desperate to convince themselves that -12F is a 'season' and not 'Bullshit beyond tolerable acceptance' so they can steal your vital essence and give it to socialists.

$300k for a manufactured home with zero yard can't be anything other than a conspiracy to conquer all the lands and overrun lesser housing markets. Let's be real though, the bigger question is do I bring the FiST or sell it and find a less salt-abraded vehicle.

The biggest draw to me of california is being able to drive something from the 40s-60s every day without having to worry about it rusting away to nothing.

Sell the fiesta, buy a corvair.

Any burgeoning car rust should cease completely in CA, unless you live directly on the coast - I don't know how old or salt-abraded a FiST can be at this point (isn't that model only 4 or 5 years in, now?), if you like it it'll probably be just fine for as long as you plan to own it, but there is something to be said for a car that's barely even been rained on in its life. The underside of my car is clean enough to eat off.

Also, where are you finding $300k actual houses (unless you're okay with a Incredibly Long-rear end commute) in just about any urban center in CA? 1 bedroom condos are about $300-400k in LA, probably a bit more in the Bay Area.

I've seen 2014 GM pickups with rust holes starting to poke through the box. Salt works quick on vehicles.

Especially when manufacturers don't paint what you can't see to save money.

The lack of real seasonal change is the biggest reason I love living in Florida, the other is being able to drive whatever you want without any sort of rust issue. Since the air is moister here than a place like new Mexico or Arizona rubber doesn't dry and crack as badly either but any sort of red paint from the 80s or 90s is very chalky about now.

Does Washington use salt on their roads? Colorado doesn't, right? I've seen a ton of old cars that are rust free in Colorado, lots of old SUVs and AMC Eagles especially.

little late for stereo chat but I have a pretty sweet custom set up courtesy of a friend who's really into building audio gear. The industrial design isn't as cool as some of that B&O stuff (I'm working on that for version 2.0) but I think it has a nice aesthetic. The speakers are a great design with some Peerless drivers, I'll probably upgrade to some ribbon tweeters at some point.

Yeah, married with two kids. Both are young enough to not be in school or deeply rooted in friends, sports groups etc. But our support network is here and we make enough to be comfortable while we would probably giving up some quality of life by moving. I think I’m leaning towards the safe and boring choice of staying, which makes me feel guilty for even getting the offer. Then I’m going nuts over whether to tell my current employer about the offer as leverage for a raise or just keep it to myself.

I gave up my dream job to be at home with my wife and son. I had an offer on the table to do NASCAR photography full time, but it meant I would hardly ever be home. I was already doing it part time and was missing being home, plus some other things that went into it like realizing my dream job was just like any other job with all the bullshit that goes with it so I decided to give it up.

Sure I think about what could have been at times, but my family is more important and I don't regret my decision at all.

In Northern Arizona they used to (and I think still do but don't know for sure) use ash-rock on the frozen roads. Doesn't melt it just provides traction.
