I don't know how this would be the reason for taking Reaves but someone on Twitter mentioned a few days ago that teams might already be keeping a Seattle expansion draft in mind so I dunno, maybe a reason for some things that might otherwise seem odd.

Why would they acquire a guy who is a UFA after this season for a draft that'll happen in 2019 at earliest?

That wouldn't make any sense because Reaves is a pending UFA and there's absolutely no way that there's a Seattle expansion draft this summer. I really think there isn't much of an angle on the Reaves thing other than Vegas sees this as a way to turn real money and cap space that they weren't using into draft picks. If the team owner is willing to spend the money, there isn't a downside here for them. Just because they have Reaves doesn't mean they're forced to play him.

How's it feel to have teams bail out your most hated rival? Feels good that it's no longer teams doing it for the Hawks (please don't trade for Seabrook anyone). Also, Vegas is definitely losing in round one if they're gonna give Reaves some decent minutes.
