Today is a good day so far in Rangers land. yeah they should definitely do that. I want him to retire as a Ranger, he's my favorite player of all time along with Messier and Hank. i don't care if it hurts the team slightly to not trade him.

that Nash trade is good. I'm not sure that spooner is a guy to keep long term, so I'd rather flip him than have another LW/C guy that can't really play C and can't really do tough minutes. we seem to always have a surplus of those. the pick and the defensive prospect are great for a rental.

Yeah, they should flip Spooner, he's a solid player but he's 26 and not a guy to rebuild with. They could likely get a nice prospect for him.

Hello I am a big fan of bringing on Plekanec for a bottom 6 assignment at the cost of a 2nd because hot drat that retained salary is beautiful. Now with Nash out of the potential targets, I'm very interested in the next move.

honestly the best part about the Nash trade is knowing that a bunch of idiot Boston fans who are somewhat familiar with him are thinking they're going to get another six four MONSTAH like LOOCH and CAM, SULLY! and then watch the world's biggest frightened peewee play solid two-way hockey and create a lot of his own offense. you learn to appreciate it after time but he really is a knock-off phil kessel at this point with how much he hates any contact at all

They could sign him to a one year deal to bring him to UFA, make him play for a contract, and trade him next year. Seems like he might be worth a 1st with the right circumstances.

I predict we are going to see a three-way trade where Nashville acquires Erik Karlsson and Ryan McDonagh, 50% salary retained on both by the Rangers, NYR get all of Nashville's picks+prospects+Bobby Ryan+Alex Burrows, and the Sens get Alexei Emelin.

Couple that with the fact that our gm said a week ago that teams wouldn't be moving picks and prospects this year only to see some of the steepest deadline prices in years and I think Canucks fans are understandably upset with what has gone down so far.

I could absolutely see the Habs picking up Bobby Ryan as the third wheel in any trade; they've got the cap space to take on Ryan, he'll "replace" Patches in his role and I assume he'll come with a bunch of stuff from whoever gets EK.

El Gallinero Gros posted:Do Vanek or Tanev have NMC's of any kind? Vanek has none, Tanev can submit an 8 team list. Tanev particularly should return a bumper haul given that he's 28, signed for another year at $4.5M and is a low end #1/high end #2. Any sensible GM should be able to corral that into a 1st, a good prospect and a roster player. Benning however has constantly wavered about moving him at all because of some perceived need to stay competitive and has refused to seriously entertain offers. They were apparently "listening" on him this week, but its been rumoured that teams aren't interested because "he gets injured too much" so the price is quite low. Benning has done nothing to create a market for him, and honestly he probably wouldn't trade him even with a 1st and a prospect on the table because he refuses to accept that he's rebuilding (or he thinks that the couple youngsters joining the team next year will be all we need to get back to respectability). He's acting like he needs key pieces in place to ensure the team can win next year, in actuality it'll be 5-7 years before they can even sniff the playoffs and by then all of the old core and most of the current kids will no longer be in their primes. In some way I appreciate that eternal optimism in people, but having a sense of reality is the most important attribute a GM can have and Benning possesses none.
