Not disagreeing, but in that case they should just fire Trotz and get someone in there who knows how to staple Orpik to the bench.

Giving up Carlson in a package to get Karlsson makes sense if the Caps know they can't sign the former this summer, but trading away Orpik really just partially mitigates the weak third pair. And how much do you have to give up just to get rid of Ryan in that too? lol

I think Jerebek and Djoos would be fine on the third pair.

Petan is good, but he's clearly not in the Jets plans. Roslovic is clearly above him in the depth chart, and with Appleton/Foley/Vesalainen coming up he's expendable. Same with Lemieux. I think they're both with different teams next year, but maybe more likely traded at the draft now. One of them probably was part of the Brassard proposal.

I don’t get Jets fans infatuation with Appleton. He’s older than Lemieux and barely younger than Petan, but Jets fans seem to think he makes them replaceable even though he’s much less accomplished than either.

We have the capability to make San Jose's first Cup Champion.

The Sharks could be that Champion.

Ginette Reno posted:

He couldn't really skate to begin with and now he's even older and slower.

I thought it might be the skating, but it's still pretty astounding. We're all familiar with the stat that forwards peak around 24 years of age, but for him, 24 was less a peak and more a ledge. For some reason, I thought I'd heard some OTT fans actually praising his play in recent years, but I'm having a hard time understanding how that could be, and am now thinking I must have misinterpreted their comments, because it doesn't look like he's ever been good on the Sens.

On paper I'm optimistic, but it remains to be seen and then there's just about nothing behind that if it doesn't work.

He's still got really good hands and a good shot but he's just so glacially slow. He's like Jason Allison slow.

His zero games in Ottawa tell me that a team that is basically last in the league, with a -50 goal differential, didn't think he would improve their situation

Either that or Guy Boucher wanted to save a spot for whatever prospect he should've given up on months ago, your call.

He was really good in the first half of last year, but he struggled mightily in the second half and this season. Prone to bad penalties at times. I think he has the chance to do really well in Nashville, though.

He has a reputation as a playoff underperformer so that's it he sucks forever and the Canucks would be lucky to get a 3rd for him apparently. The TSN panel spent 3 minutes devoted to talking about how much of a floaty sack of poo poo he is.

In reality he's a good complementary scorer that meshes well with whoever you put him with. He's as good offensively as Nash and fine defensively.
