I just got an email from MST3K.com promoting the Rifftrax Kickstarter, and I like that there's cross-promotion going on there. I really hope they all continue to support each other's projects. The world of movie riffing is way too small for feuds.

Yeah, I'd always kind of assumed that, and I think Mike trying to stay away from the revival entirely is just about him preserving his own brand as a guy doing an entirely separate project. It's good to continue to see evidence of it.

If I ever start up a super-secret government organization like the one in RWD, I know the first thing I'm going to do when considering who to hire for my underwater-based science projects is consult the list of recent Harvard law school graduates.

What's funny is I watched the original pilot for the series Riding with Death was welded together from, and there's no mention of a Harvard law degree. He's just an affable dumbass special agent with a pilot's license and scuba training.

In the same vein, it's a pity they never hacked two episodes of Search together because it's basically the same show except with Doug McClure instead of Ben Murphy and it would be perfect for MST3K.

Someone's gotta suggest that to them for Season 13. It's so cheesy and has a big ol' slice of Burgess Meredith playing a cranky mission control type.

I'm pretty sure they've been cropping to 16:9. It wasn't a common ratio until recently.

Sorry, I'm quite busy at the moment.
Jonah Ray was on the podcast Shock Waves recently.

He talked about a movie he pitched hard for season 2 of Netflix MST3K, only to be turned down because of how much it would cost to license and the one movie he would do on the show if money/rights were no object.

He pitched hard for Maximum Overdrive and he would love to do the original Dawn of the Dead if rights/money were no object.

He also said that they're still writing season 2, so it's going to be a while before new episodes.

That kind of stuff is why Rifftrax does their Kickstarters and even then they only get the ability to broadcast the movies those couple of times.
