That's pretty soon! :3 I'm excited for it, especially for all the making of content I also hope the book has like a 20 page compendium of every hero/villain pun name they've ever come up with

I kept meaning to order that back when I had money, but never did. Maybe in the future. The Commentaries are interesting, as its more just two friends shooting the poo poo, sometimes they talk about the show, other times they just kind of talk about random stuff.

Also, I think I also preordered the book 4 years ago. And canceled that preorder over a year ago when the book was canceled. Then tried to preorder it again when it was un-canceled but couldn't. Now I have preordered it again. I don't have high hopes for ever holding it in my hands.Hedrigall posted:I can't believe I haven't listened to the commentaries yet. Gonna start that soon I think. The pilot definitely isn't what I'd sell people on the show with, but it's still pretty good on its own, and does a decent job at establishing the start of the characters' status quo.

I mean you need to watch Turtle Bay just for the vintage Monarch costume alone.

Macau Baccarat in particular has a lot to do with laundering cash/fudging money transfer limits out of China. That's why there's so much "borrowed money" shenanigans and $1 million buy-in sort of things done for it there.

VictorianQueerLit posted:I know how baccarat works because of Archer Here's the thing: you don't need to. You just bet. It's practically a combination of Candyland and betting on a coin toss. The dealer plays both hands (so like a coin toss), but the drawing rules are a strict formula (akin to how Candyland is simply a function of the order that the cards are dealt. There is no strategy to follow.). You bet on the player or house, Both hands are dealt two cards. If one is an 8 or 9, it wins. Otherwise, the chart says what happens after that. The only simpler card game would be betting on someone playing War against themselves.

It wasn't my money, but it sure was fun.

Yeah its kind of a nuts game. The only real playing you do is trying to manage your betting to stay ahead of your losses. Bank has a slight edge in the odds for reasons that I'm not smart enough to understand. The funny thing is that the actual game that the two hands are playing is somewhat sophisticated itself and would make a great time, in the style of blackjack, but no one plays it that way anymore.

Was a bit of a plot hole when Casino Royale changed it to Texas Hold-Em poker or whatever, because that's more luck-based than the card-counting skill that Bond's strategy in the original book relied on, iirc. Of course, Brock enjoys poker more, as you can experience for yourself.
