If Nick becomes Morgan's apprentice for this show I'll lose it. No Nick! It's illegal to pick Bluebonnets! Morgan his hands are too bloody to read a book! Oh no they couldn't keep paying the actors. Tenzarin fucked around with this message at 03:03 on Apr 30, 2018 |

At first I was just kind of like "unexpected, but alright, let's see where this goes," but as the episode went on the dialog was just pushing it really hard and I thought "wtf did they do to Madison, she wasn't even this selfless before the outbreak." But now I think or at least hope that they're just setting her up to snap, and a bunch of people are about to get hosed up. You may be on to something

The actor asked to leave in season 3. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/fear-walking-dead-nick-dies-showrunners-frank-dillane-exit-1106632 So they had no choice in killing him off.

Wow, this was the dumbest, duuuuuumbest move they could have ever made. Are they loving stupid or what? Now they've locked in this odd future where Nick is dead and the girl definitely kills him so any development with her in the past scenes will be pointless. We'll also have to keep watching more scenes with Nick in the past? Who cares? What a slap in the face from the new showrunner. It's like he actively wanted to destroy their competitor. Edit: Uhhh, the people on Talking Dead claim that Nick's actor wanted out...? Dunno how true that is... Edit 2: If true, they should have just let Nick die on the dam when it would have been a natural sacrifice. Ack, this is like Travis' contrived helicopter death all over again after he had been saved in s2. Can't wait to see the ratings drop off the cliff starting next week. Every article on his exit and the guys in Talking Dead say word for word the same talking points, and he's not there on the couch, so I bet even if he wanted to leave it wasn't as amicable as it appears.

Welp! Something like this p much tells me something else. Either this season's gonna manage to make something out of this regardless to its end, or it'll just crash and burn spectacularly. Either way, it's still gonna be more interesting than the main show lmao. I kinda remember feeling the same sort of "OH FOR gently caress'S SAKE, WHY?! Right the gently caress now, when this character's story was finally looking to become interesting to me!!!" with Travis' death in S3...and yet, S3 continued to kick rear end better than all the previous ones. Hope they can pull that off again. But I dunno lol...either way, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt for this season I think. CrazyLoon fucked around with this message at 05:29 on Apr 30, 2018 |

Triple post, cause I just realized something else. Travis was one poor bastard, who failed to save his ex-wife and his son despite any promises made, but his one singular success was saving Nick's life back at the military base. Now even that is rendered meaningless. Nick's death has officially made Travis the most demoralizing character in all of fiction for me. Like...nothing he ever achieved really mattered for all that much in the end. gently caress, this show is bleak! Tho I dunno if really by design lol.

CrazyLoon posted:Like...nothing he ever achieved really mattered for all that much in the end. gently caress, this show is bleak! Tho I dunno if really by design lol. Personally, I kinda like that. I like how people can just... die, without any real fanfare or reason, in this show. For two reasons: 1. Feels more real. We all expect these huge death scenes where everything you've ever known about the character culminates right there, in this final grandiose sacrifice for the team. Feels repetitive, and fake. Travis died practically randomly from stray gunfire, in a helicopter where everyone else survived. Awesome 2. TWD always feels like they're just rounding up a group of the most important bestest survivors that are also the coolest. Maggie's never gonna die. Rick, Daryl, Carol, they are the faces of this show until they literally decide to retire. Sure, we lose some cool people along the way, all of whom get epic death scenes, some even get to whine about their impending doom for the whole episode. Stupid It's almost a blessing when a character wants to leave the show and get killed. Dale was one of my favorite characters in TWD, and his whole thing is that he wanted to leave, so, they killed him. Felt very par for this world Will suck that this awesome guy who was channeling Keith Richards will be gone but, good for them. For all his screentime, none of it was wasted

Yeah when I heard the shot and saw his bloody fingers I was absolutely startled. Are they really going to just... off him? Right now in episode three with no warning or fanfair? One of the most likeable characters in the show? Holy poo poo yes they are! And the reason it happened made sense; a young kid with stockholme syndrome that just saw her captor murdered, seeking revenge. It's completely in theme with this being a dangerous, lawless world and nobody being safe. Sometimes, people don't get to "complete their journeys" whatever that even means.

Wow. I’m sure some people are gonna be grumbling about Nick’s departure, but that took me completely by surprise. I can’t think of the last time a WD death blindsided me like that. Furthermore, Episode 3 is just such an unassuming episode to have such a major death. The main show seems to hold those for the premiere/MSF/MSP/finale.

That was a proper decent episode despite the obvious disappointment of losing one of the best characters. Heck, there was even a car crash that happened for a believable reason which I haven't seen for a long time. Hopefully this means Daniel will be back soon too.
