I hung out with their original drummer a few weeks ago but didn't realize who it was. We bs'd about music and what a cool guy Andy Williams is then I went home and slept. The next day I was like "I wonder who that Jesse guy wa-oooh yeah it's THAT Jesse guy."

lol, my dumb "handle I picked 20 years ago" poo poo aside - Zao loving killed it. They played for a little over an hour too. Was awesome. Was good to see the old guys still got it and brought tons of energy. Also I too am old and got completely exhausted and soaked in sweat. I haven't been to a live show in way too long.

Also, Holy+Gold opened for them. I'd never heard them, but dug their set. I was like "Huh, kind of a Chariot / ETID vibe" - turns out they've got members from those bands, lol.

I was just going off Wikipedia's The Chariot member list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Chariot_(band)#Members

Brandon Henderson - listed as in Holy+Gold at some point, and Keller Harbin - listed as in both ETID and The Chariot at some point, and current front man of Holy+Gold. Digging a little more, apparently Keller Harbin was just a touring bassist for ETID.

Sectioned was linked not too long ago - it's some of the same members of Frontierer (and it really shows hah!)

Been a fan of Employed to Serve for a little while - although I thought their latest album was kind of weak.

Do you happen to be talking about Jesse Smith? If so he's a super cool guy and my friend produced his new band's latest record. They're called Jesse Smith and the Holy Ghost and it's some really solid sludge n roll.

I think Watchers of Rule is their worst album by a not particularly small margin, but this single has that o.g. flotch punchin hardcore feel that I'm super happy to see making a comeback. That riff @3:25 in where it's like duhnuhnuhnuh bumb-bum-bump SCREE bumb-bum-bump SCREE is all the way my whole poo poo from high school. See also @2:04 here:

We all agree Oncoming Storm is their best, but my dude. You are missing out on Hail the Shrine and Last Wish, which are low key my two favorite Unearth songs. You should give The March and Darkness in the Light each one more play as homework before this new tape hits. Also, speaking of The March and of kumba, here's hoping that We Are Not Anonymous gets swept up in this RBN revival thing that's happening. Lots of metalcore making the cut, so just maybe!

I like The March, and Hail the Shrine is a great song. Super groovy. Actually, all of The March has a groove to it that makes it different from the rest of their albums.

Darkness in the Light is pretty hit or miss for me, but it has a few bangers on it. Last Wish and Arise the War Cry are real good.
