Also the Avatar Project timer is largely inconsequential, you have to completely ignore doing anything for months for it to fill up and after it fills up there is an additional extremely long grace period to finally do something. Also in the DLC there are side missions which level your soldiers up and reduce the timer at the same time, which at that point you have to actively choose to lose

Also Dark Events are countered by doing Guerrilla Ops so that's another thing you have to actively choose to ignore to suffer penalties and if you are ignoring all these things what are you actually playing at this point

I don’t feel like Nier: A gets enough praise on the combat animations + effects. It feels really good and adds so much to the gameplay.

It's the exact same game. You can play online with people who have the PS3 or vita version and it even shares achievements.

If you dropped it before they patched in the infinite dungeon made up of randomly arranged rooms from all the stages then I guess that would be new for you.

I still enjoy the elder scrolls series, but I always thought it would have been a better series if they had kept improving on the systems in place for daggerfall.

Not being able to create super powerful spells that break the game is a real bummer.

What's the deal with PS4's follower system? I've been uploading Diamond Cup runs of Rayman Legends so I assume it's tied to that somehow but every time I open my console "you have 4 new followers!" "you have 7 new followers!" "New guy is following you!"

I have no idea what that actually means

I'm really liking AssCreed Origins but one thing about it is kind of pissing me off. It's been pretty hard for me so far which I don't mind, but since the game checkpoints once every 15 seconds I feel like whenever I die I miss the opportunity to try things again because it keeps everything you've done. I keep accidentally scumming locations because I sneak in, assassinate someone, then get caught and get killed, then I respawn outside the location with the quest completed. This is probably good for people who don't want to beat their heads against the wall, but since I do it's pissing me off.

I assume you're assassinating the main guy(s) then since there were several camps I had to completely re-do because I died before killing them but after killing dozens of guards.

It varies but yeah, it's the most annoying to me after I complete an objective which is usually to assassinate the main guy. It's a weird thing to be annoyed by, but it is kind of robbing me of any sense of accomplishment because the game just goes "Well you did it I guess" and reloads back outside. I thought Dying Light's death penalty was kind of lovely but this goes way too far in the other direction. I feel like if you wanted you could just run in and complete objectives one at a time and then commit suicide by guard and there's no penalty.

I'm still enjoying the game though! I just wish instead of autosaving almost constantly the game would save at the start of a quest and then let you really restart it if you want to. Even the "reload last checkpoint" option lets you keep all the objectives you've cleared like lost treasures, killed captains, etc.

It's sort of part of the Kojima sense of idiosyncrasy tho. Like, he arbitrarily decided that the player should have to hold down 3 different buttons AND move the stick in MGS1 in order to run with your gun aimed.

His reason was that running while aiming is difficult IRL so it should be difficult on a controller. I can't help but respect the hubris behind such ballbusting design.

I know it sounds nuts but if you want the combat to be actually fun you need to play on at least survivor difficulty. I had little appreciation for it until I played that and grounded and I absolutely love the combat in TLOU.

Overall, bricks are your best friend. Bash everyone with them. They are everywhere and destroy. Don't worry about killing every clicker you see. distract and avoid them. Save your shivs to defend yourself if they grab you.

During human encounters, stealth as much as you can but don't restart if you get caught. The game isn't about perfect stealth. Stealth is just to thin the herd. Thats when you start whacking people with fists bricks and boards.
