I'm not going to lie

I would be so much more excited for this season if the last five seasons and 7 (8?) years hadn't drummed me down into the ground so hard.

This last season was probably Moffat's second best and I really wish Capaldi got a season he deserved to have.

Even if you're a grumpy gus like me, the fact that there is a brand new team making the show should freshen it up a bit and make it interesting. I mean, at the very least it'll be bad in a different way. I'm looking forward to it.

So far the team seems to have made the right choices, IMO. I have some apprehension regarding a leaked episode plotline (or rather, the hints at that plotline from leaked casting credits and sets), but everything else looks great.

And even if it's poo poo, it'll be different poo poo! Doctor Who thrives on changing, otherwise we'd still be getting vaseline filters over shots and a significantly aged David Tennant telling yet another companion that he's sorry, so sorry.

Even if Chibnall’s debut season is terrible, it’ll at least be a different kind of terrible than any of Moffat’s seasons. I don’t actually think the season will be terrible, but having new takes on the show, even if they’re a bit lackluster, will be refreshing.

Chibnall's earliest stuff was, yeah, rough, but he's improved tremendously over the years. If we got a season of, say, Dinosaurs On A Spaceship I'd be perfectly happy, and I've yet to see anything in the advance press of the show that I don't like.

So who do you guys favor for the identity of the Woman in White from “The End of Time”?

Personally I favor her being the Doctor’s mom.

Also, yeah, I like this explanation best. (The alternative I've occasionally entertained is that she's Romana.)

The End Of Time really hits that sweet spot of Davies' Who for me. Not that it doesn't have massive drive-a-truck-through-them flaws, it really does. But the stuff it does well is the sort of thing I like and the stuff it does poorly at is the sort of thing I don't really care about.

I don't know if it's my favorite story from the Davies run but it's up there.

I think my two least favourite episodes of the revival are "The End of Time" and "Let's Kill Hitler".

There are plenty of episodes which I think are worse than either of them, but those are the two I anticipated the most and the two that most disappointed me.

Of course, my favourite episode written by Davies himself is probably something like "Gridlock", so there you go.

I have very mixed feelings about Let's Kill Hitler. It's this weird melange of strange risk taking and unaccountable mayhem, and so much of it makes no goddamn sense and doesn't work, but I still find it entertaining somehow. Much of it makes me wonder if a 14 year old girl got all coked up and dicated the script. AND THEN THE TIME TRAVELLING JUSTICE ROBOT HAS SMALLER ROBOTS INSIDE AND -THOSE- ROBTS KILL THE GUY

I'd much rather an episode take risks and fail and end up being a weird mess than for it to be forgettable, I guess.

I'm worried about what it'll do internationally. It being on Saturday night in the UK meant it could be broadcast elsewhere on Sunday night, which worked out well.

If it's on Sunday in the UK, the soonest reasonable time it can air elsewhere is Monday night, which just doesn't seem like it'll work.

EDIT: at least, speaking for Australia on this, that's where it lands. Not sure how it goes in the States and Canada.

Organza Quiz

I think that's only the case for places east of the UK (so, Australia, which is where I am and I agree is going to be a pain compared to watching it on Sunday). Isn't the US far enough behind that it could still air Sunday night there?

A worried pug.

This is the one that keeps getting threatened to be made with Omega as the main bad guy (as Baker also owns Omega). Part of me wants it to happen, so it can be added to the pile of weird Who spinoff esoterica, like the Daemons films, the Autons, and that Zygon porn that somehow got made.

And then the other part remembers that trash tv show they made, where they managed to screw up a very basic Sarah-Jane Adventures style formula, and didn't get another series. :v:

I don’t understand why some people get so frothingly angry about the Moffat era establishing that the Metacrisis Doctor’s regeneration counted. Getting hit head on by a Dalek’s beam which is most certainly fatal and then using half of the energy to GROW A WHOLE NEW PERSON is definitely something that sounds like something that should chew up one of the Doctor’s lives.
