When I was reading the comics she was more a experimental test pilot (so far, so green lantern) and I don't think she flew combat missions, but that might be different in the movie. This is part of a cinematic universe where at least one one of the following applies to most of the lead characters: cop, spy, soldier, billionaire, hereditory nobility.... so sure, guillotine the lot of them. Just not really seeing what people are finding particulary problematic about this trailer, especially given the existing universe it's part of.

The original Captain Marvel was my first comic book, and so I'm a little sad that he is not part of this - or at least, not like comic continuity. But we got Kree Starforce, Ronan, the Psyche-Magnetron... that's all pretty cool stuff, but even better is the possibility that they find a hook for Carol that really works. I really, really hope the movie does well - if only for that. Also, the more Cosmic Marvel we get, the closer we get to a real Nova movie. My second comic book

The problem with the Captain Marvel trailer is a lack of tension. She has memory problems, I guess? It's one way to avoid having another bland MCU viillian I suppose, but is a PTSD take really any more new or interesting?

No, you don't need to throw racial slurs around just because people used them casually in the time when your movie is set. You can, if you want, remake The Dambusters and change the name of the dog. But by the same token, you don't say "well the military-industrial complex is poo poo in 2018 therefore it has to be poo poo in this movie about the D-Day landings". In general you seem to like a lot of action stuff, much of which is likely to be more overtly pro-military industrial complex than Captain Marvel will be. Just seems to be a disconnect between someone having a big issue with this in the trailer for Captain Marvel... yet apparently having paid to see Mile 22 in the cinema
