Apparently requiring additional arguments for the settlement isn't actually common at all, at least outside that particular judge's court. Although CNBC is also saying rejection would be surprising since the last time that happened the decision was later overturned and judges instructed to defer to the regulators.

Because that's how I feel every time I see a musketeer tweet, but I'm also broke as gently caress. someone loans you the tesla stocks, you sell the stocks, and then when your'e ready to pay the guy that loaned you the stocks back you buy them, hopefully for less than you paid.

Extremely Enron vibes of CEO only concerned with share price and the thought that someone, somewhere may be shorting their precious stock while the company's cash on hand heads towards zero and they haven't been doing anything about it.

Ytlaya posted:I'm trying to figure out how to estimate this guy's previous total capital and net loss from what he says here. It's not super hard. It really depends on who his broker was and their risk parameters, but it's easy enough to eyeball. He says he had a $7.2 million loan, which tells you pretty much everything you need to know. Industry standard is a 30% requirement on long stock (assuming no option hedges because, come on). If the max you could borrow is $7,200,000, a 30% equity requirement means you can have as much as $10,285,714 in stock, with $3,085,714 as your equity (what you own). I'm doing some math to come up with exactly how much he started with and how much he lost. Most of the time when traders talk about Their Gains or Their Losses, they're referring to all-time high prices where they held but didn't sell.

https://twitter.com/TeslaOpinion/status/1048053241257312256?s=20 Sure, buddy, that’s the only thing that’s been keeping them back. That, and the trucks that Elon has trouble finding. And the railway system too, that was also to blame. The fenders that fall off are also someone else’s problem... the uh... glue factory. They had a bad batch of elderly horses come in this quarter and the glue was bad. The left blinker that jams in the on position, that was the supplier’s fault as well. Autopilot crashes - clearly user’s fault. Elon’s tweets, that’s on the SEC and the pedo guy. It’s always someone else.

You mean shorting, right? I think the reference OP brought up was actually about buying a companies credit default swap. Since these work like an insurance against that company's default, you'd see their price rack up dramatically as the company irks closer to a default. That's what eventually happened in the big short, everyone was going bankrupt and the dude's holding the insurance against that made bank.

I like how all the bull arguments are so easily defeating with simple reviews of things like 10Ks. For example bulls will argue that things like vertical integration in the Solarcity/Energy business would lead to a massive increase in revenue even though over the last few years Solarcity has actually shrunk in terms of revenue/Cells installed and the company had a big layoff this year.
