Rayquaza or Groudon for gen 4 legendary raids. Kyogre is less meta relevant right now but it still has many uses and will be the best water type pokemon forever. Really any of the three gen3 cover legendaries are safe choices and will remain relevant for a very long time.

I hatched one while the Halloween event was still going on, and it has a pretty great IV at around 93%. I named it Eekchu. I also have witch hat Pikachu and Raichu, named Eekachu and Aieechu, respectively.

I don’t transfer any pichus or pikachus, all my pichus are called “[word that rhymes with ears] Ears” which grows challenging with 26 different names needed so far. All 179 of my pikachus are called Phil Evans in memory of an old tinker man I used to know. I think I’ve got all the hat variants that have been available.

I also keep all pinsirs and snorlax, and give them all unique thematically linked names. Does anyone else do this?

I think 80% of my regular raid group are multiaccounters at this point. It means I get more raid opportunities since groups are easy to form, more EX passes from all the accounts at eligible gyms, and I use so few potions and revives I'm throwing them out constantly. I have a lot of trouble considering this a bad thing.

spoofers we don't really like but don't usually worry about. the only raids where we break into team groups are EX ones so it doesn't really matter for anything else.

I don’t raid so I’ve pretty much only got one of each poke outside of those four I collect, with a few exceptions. Three each of Ttars, Machamps, Vaporeons, Exeggutors, and the legendary dogs/birds. That about it. Never occurred to me that storage would be a problem but I guess if you’ve got multiple specialised teams it fills up fast.

Every time someone describes their naming or catch rules I like to imagine either a gym or a trainer archetype in an official game that uses those rules, and I have to say, Phil Evans Memorial Pikachu Gym is one of the funnier ones. Imagining having to knock over six or eight trainers with progressively higher level and rarer-hatted Pikachus, all named Phil Evans, each more upset than the last at my disrespect for the dead has me in stitches.

On the topic of naming Pokemon, I wish there was an easier way - or any way at all even, to see what moves or move types a Pokemon has while you're in the gym prep/raid countdown screen that doesn't involve closing out of everything, going to the Pokemon listing, and clicking on each individual one. I can name Pokemon I won't ever use seriously for battle something fun like the Pikachu series, but anything I plan to use for battle, I need to either name them something so I remember what moves they have which isn't as fun, like AcidPump for Poison/Water, or have fun names and try to remember what they are or risk going in with ineffective attacks. Two little icons denoting the move types in the bottom right corner would be good enough and highly appreciated.

I willed too hard again...

I love this man ever since he was featured in the news and he's straight OG because he speaks in the Taiwanese dialect and I wonder if most people in the college age demographic can even understand him over there. I sure as hell can't even though I grew up hearing my parents say it to each other. They would do it when they didn't want us kids to understand because we understand Mandarin but not Taiwanese and its crazy intonations.

Sanford posted:

Not outta love, no. I only have extra legendaries and Chansey around in the very slim chance they let us have an unlimited double candy event again. If it doesn't happen this next Easter, I'm transferring all sub-optimal dupes.

Before hashing died, I loved all the apps/sites that let you mass check IVs of your entire inventory and I'd weed out bad IVs all the time. We're never getting that back though if hackers can never crack hashing again.

How well does adventure sync work? I just had the option pop up - says it will count my distance while the app is closed - does that count with phone locked as well?

Is it still just GPS tracking?

I use an old iPhone 6 for my alternative account and I noticed this morning that as of the end of October Apple health has totally poo poo the bed and decided I'm walking over 400km and 200,000 steps daily. I've hatched 14 eggs today just using the basic incubator. I'm curious what will happen, obviously I don't want to get banned but at the same time I've no idea what's causing the problem in the first place.

It uses your phone's built in fitness tracker stuff, not just GPS. Treadmill steps etc will count, and it works fine with your phone locked and stuffed in a bag/pocket. It's really great if you walk a lot of steps daily but in a small area.

Anyone else around here use a Samsung galaxy S8 that has connection issues with the adventureSync? I swear I've tried everything to get it to work, downloaded google fit, gave it all the permissions, etc. but it just wont transfer my data from Fit into GO :(

Kind of a bummer, was about to start a part-time gig where I'd be on foot a lot, really sounded like a cool feature

I have an s8 and might be able to help you, but I don't think the problem is unique to the phone model. I was having issues with getting the two apps to communicate as well. For me the problem was because the Google account Google fit associated itself with wasn't linked to my PokemonGo account, and that was because I'd used that email to start my alt.

I got around it by creating a new gmail account, linking that to Google fit, then associating that new email with my pokemon go account within the app. It required a bit of trial and error but it was all working fine today, tracking my run properly.

In fact, I'm pretty sure it only works when Pokemon Go is not running (completely closed, not just suspended).

Yeah, i went to walk my dog today all excited to actually get distance since I take him on long walks.

Came home, unlocked my phone, was greeted by pokego running still. Forgot to actually close it before i left. No distance gained.
