Just want to point out half drunkenly that the rumors that there are many public toilets in EU are false. Aside from high way piss stations at rest stops and train station s, I only know of a single public toilet from back when I was a kid. It sort of had an aura where no one in the city came closer than 20m to it. That's except the plastic piss pots they put up during pub night, and the retractable ones that come out of the ground in Dutch tourist spots I always piss at McDonald's

I spent my Christmas day in Santa Barbara driving around by myself unable to find a public bathroom while my friends explored the closed-for-holidays part of town. Thanks, spicy hotpot and a defective digestive system. Also thanks, both the liquor store and gas station that insisted there's no bathroom for customers. Way to deny a basic human health need to your fellow man on Christmas. Nothing I could have done to your bathroom is worth a company selling its soul like that. But they all do it because gently caress the homeless I guess, maybe they'll just stop being homeless if we stop encouraging them, and will definitely not piss on our entrance every day. gently caress SoCal

I feel like all Americans and people who should be Americans like illegal immigrants should be provided with a birthright tour of a usa-like country with a social welfare state like Australia. just throw money around and stay in the bougie areas so the locals treat them nice. but the main point would be to walk em around and give them a real sense of poo poo. take them to a 7-11, let them marvel at the high prices, then let the employee tell them that's to pay for their overtime. another one would be showing Americans that other countries actually negotiate competitively for their prescription drug prices, like a free market or something. it doesn't have to be Aussie, that's just the one I've had those experiences wandering around cause I will admit there's a certain culture shock to, in my example, realizing that 711 isn't just cheap as gently caress. it opened my eyes to some of the exploitation I'd been performing and taking for granted, and after that initial selfish impulse it helped me understand the rationale at more than an intellectual level I don't have a ton of other examples but I feel like even just laser focusing on 'this is what costs more, and this is what they get for it' in the easily understood parts of the economy would go a long way obviously it'd be nice to shoehorn in some anti gun and pro health care poo poo. maybe we can trick the kind of people who told me to take my Aussie relations to outback steakhouse into going to Australia thinking they won't be exposed to anything more challenging than a large knife

GWBBQ posted:This is such an annoying talking point. They never meant to put it into Mars orbit, only to have a trajectory equivalent to a transfer orbit to Mars. There were two reasons for launching the roadster: minimal cost publicity stunt for a launch that would otherwise have been a mass simulator, and payload mass way below the rocket's capabilities to increase the chance of center core recovery, which failed anyway because it was a long shot regardless of what was on top of it. Also having a nonhomogenous payload means they got a little more experience than they would have with just a big chunk of concrete, and apparently the launch was risky/useless enough nobody they asked was willing to risk a functional satellite on it. It's honestly one of the less-dumb things Tesla did.

my local Tesla dealer is staying open until midnight to help as many people as possibly take advantage of the tax credit. I hadn’t really considered it but I’m a car guy and a performance guy and a Model 3 AWD with the performance package seems like it’d be right up my alley. 0-60 in 3.3 and 1/4 in 11.8 is pretty good for a daily driver type car. I think I may grab one before midnight to get the tax credit.
