Speaking of Mandy...I saw it was on Shudder so I decided to give it a whirl. I’m not sure how to put this exactly, but while the plot may not exactly be the strongest, it knows exactly what it is and pulls it off as well I can imagine it being done. There are so many “that scene”s. Obviously it looks incredible the whole way through and Nic Cage some how gives a fantastic performance despite having 8 lines. The movie is just so... cool? It’s definitely the best of the 2018 horror movies I’ve seen so far, still need to check out Heredity though.

It also made me hate the reddit horror forum as many of them made fun of Linus Roache's acting, which was awesome; and the bathroom scene, which was one of the most emotionally visceral scenes that I've ever seen. Still haven't seen Beyond the Black Rainbow by Cosmatos, but man do I gently caress with Mandy.

Mandy hot take, heard from a teen who had seen the movie with his elderly parents: This was like a video game. They stole the aesthetic from Blood Dragon.

I saw this poo poo on watch TCM tonight called Two on a Guillotine, and it was pretty drat good. It was directed by a guy named William Conrad who was better known as an actor and T.V. director, but who in 1965 directed three quickie thrillers for Warner Bros. and this was one of them. Apparently the decision to produce them was inspired by the success of William Castle's films, and there's more than a few elements of this that feel like just straight up homage to him, including a very particular gag involving a skeleton on a gerry-wire. I recommend it.Gejimayu posted:Still haven't seen Beyond the Black Rainbow by Cosmatos, but man do I gently caress with Mandy. See BtBR

This actually makes me wonder what film you would intentionally show a bunch of 10 year olds with the intent of loving them up as much as possible. Maybe with the caveat that it be something other than just torture porn. My vote'd probably be something like The Thing? hosed up practical effects seems the way to go. Also Mandy fucks. Though not Linus Roache.

I finally got around to sitting through Mandy last week and there's a fair amount in that movie that would either be ridiculous or just wouldn't work in another film but they just come together and work in Mandy. Linus Roache really pulled off what I'd expect for Sand. Though I don't say this often, I really wouldn't mind eventually picking up a replica of the axe Red makes.

The uncut Eaten Alive (1980) has a great one too where the person's dick is cut off and then like a stick is shoved into bleeding hole all on screen. I guess Sick Girl (2007) deserves props for what it does in its castration scene because that was a new one to me but I wouldn't recommend watching the movie.

While not a good film overall, The Human Centipede 3 has a pretty great castration scene, with a knife sawing through the cords and everything. I'd like to nominate Teeth as well, but they technically aren't castrations since the balls are left intact.

We're talking about castration in the general sense not the technical definition. I forget what it's called when the balls are left. It's definitely called something else though I think its just called emasculation.

Yeah I mean most castrations in horror aren't true castrations they just take off the frank and leave the beans. Like Cannibal Holocaust they just cut off his penis , but Hostel 2 she cuts off the frank and beans whole and tosses it.
