I know HS smoking chat was a couple pages ago but it reminded me of a funny story. Just before my freshman year of HS my father and I moved directly across the street from my school. We had an open campus and could go around the neighborhood for lunch or during free periods. This was great for me since I could have my friends over and we could watch TV and BBQ burgers instead of hanging out in the lunchroom. This was also the first year that my school closed down their long held smoking area and students had to smoke off campus and risk getting ticketed by school security or our campus cop. The first week of class my friends and I are hanging out at my house for lunch and I get a ring at the front door. I answer and it's the head of campus security. At the same moment a police officer who had hoped the fence comes into my kitchen with a gun drawn yelling at my friends. The security guy tells me they saw students entering the house (through ther front door) and thought we were breaking in. I tell them it's my house, show my ID, and tell them to immediately leave because they're trespassing. They order us all to report to ther principals office and I tell em to gently caress off, we're on private property. They leave and I'm picked out of my next class and taken to ther principal's office where they proceed to call my dad and tell him I'm being suspended for defiance. My dad shows up and is loving pissed. Not at me but at campus security and the cop for breaking into our house and harassing me. My dad (who was wheelchair bound from Vietnam) tells ther principal that the last time he attended a parent teacher conference he noticed about a dozen ADA violations in the school that would amount to tens of thousands of dollars of repairs were here to report it. He tells them not only are they not going to suspend me but they're never to set foot on our property or harass me and my friends on said property ever again. From that day forward my house was a safe haven from campus security so I let any student at my school hang out in my front yard to smoke cigarettes. Funnily enough my yard was in full view from the principal's office window and even after I went to college my dad let the kids hang out and BBQ to stick it to them. I miss that man.
