Lysidas posted:this was contagious, right? to other zip drives and then any zip disk put in any affected drive, iirc no. those are two completely different issues that everyone gets mixed up. the click of death was because iomega cheaped out on some mid-period zip drives that made them lose calibration. the disks would work fine in another drive, and it doesn't really affect early or later drives unless they are very worn out. the disk damage was an unrelated thing that only happened if the actual disk material inside the plastic case was damaged in a very specific way.
