Do iPhones still require you to have an iTunes account to install anything on the phone, and does the account still require adding a credit card in order to set it up in the first place?

A few years ago my mom had me help her install some apps during a family emergency and there was no way to do so without paying an Apple tax just to set up the loving iTunes account.

"Why yes, Apple, I would very much like to add a funding source to my phone account just to have the extravagant ability to install free apps."

I don’t know, I like the hardware inside the iPhones. Everything is fast as heck and even though this phone is almost 2 years old, there’s no Qualcomm gear that is any better yet.

But I’m not gonna lie to you and try and tell you the designs on iPhones haven’t gotten worse since Steve died. The iPhone 6/7/8 feel like rear end to hold, and the only reason why my 10 is any improvement over the iPhone 5/SE is the upgraded guts and the OLED screen, which is nice regardless of the dumb notch.

I understand why some people like the powerful customization and features of Android kit though. Unfortunately you also end up with a ton of dumb boomers and zoomers with RAM cleaners that actively spy on them while making their cheap Mediatek SoC’s overheat and poo poo. Then they complain as if it’s Android’s fault and not the fact that they bought their phone for $79 at Big Lots.

Google is not the main developer and certainly not the creator or maintainer of WebKit. It's an open source renderer used in dozens of web browsers, email clients, etc and worked on by hundreds of developers worldwide. Like I said, they have forked WebKit and use their own Javascript engine and other in-house assorted APIs to support Chrome. Chrome uses WebCore, which renders HTML/SVG only, and the version they use is custom in-house stuff at this point and far removed from the open source release. Safari, Opera, Konqueror, and dozens of other WebKit browsers do not directly benefit from Google's work, and it's disingenuous to claim that's a fact. It's like saying Ubuntu or Fedora drives Linux's development and all other distros benefit from them or some bullshit.

probably because im quoting the post at which point you have only posted speed charts. just a theory. nothing anyone could be sure about

post the chart thats speed/energy/$ while youre at it but honestly i dont care

faster phones at this current point are good for some sort of bragging rights among some goofy internet clique somewhere im sure instead of anything practical (cited uses itt are literally loading apps that will stay open for hours by a fraction of a second faster)
like how in PCs ram usage used to be optimized in the sense of using as little as possible because it was something to be considered scarce and once ram became something to be considered abundant you optimized ram usage in terms of how you could make good use of as much of it as possible
phone speed surpassed what people generally want to use the phone medium for (a lot of people arent interested in phones as a serious means of gaming) and if you want people to care you need a better use case
at least for practical people. for apple fans the use case is being able to say "i own the newest iphone"

and before you argue in favor of iphones to me again i should tell you that youre wasting your time if tasker hasnt been released for ios. if you cant make your iphone act like a mini jarvis you might as well get yourself a mid 2000s flip phone. youre paying more for less at that point anyway

Javascript, a language that has nothing to do with Java and was just cranked out in like 10 days by a guy to animate frivolous poo poo in the old Netscape browser has somehow come to be the development language of basically all modern network applications. I said that people who call other people dumb for not understanding why they would own a $800 phone are stupid as hell because everyone has different needs and wants in their electronics, not that they're stupid because they don't own a $800 phone themselves. Also uh, Javascript/SVG/demanding XHTML/etc on the internet affects way more than just ads and non-essential scripts you can block with ad blockers and the like. So much more than simply that is everywhere. You're an idiot and you have no clue what you're talking about.

It's not dumb because that poo poo can be measured with benchmarks instead of just "I feeel like it is slow."

Which it isn't btw it loads everything just fine bc guess what if webpages can't load on a $200 phone then they get hosed on in the search listings
