Negrostrike posted:This is a good read: https://segaretro.org/Blast_processing Cool article. There are definitely things the Genesis was better at than the SNES, even though it came out 2 years earlier, especially sprite scaling for arcade-style titles. The color palette for the SNES was definitely superior. Hoobastank4ever97 posted:Yeah but by that logic the NES came out six years before the Genesis North american release for NES was fall of 85, while the north american release for the Genesis was 89. Nintendo was still cranking out NES titles well into the mid 90's but yeah I'm stretching it. food court bailiff posted:the master system came out in 86, dweebus Sorry I meant Genesis/Mega Drive.

By the way, this is an excellent short read for anyone who's ever curious about why you could burn Dreamcast games to regular CDs and play them without modding your system: http://fabiensanglard.net/dreamcast_hacking/

I probably burned more than a hundred Dreamcast and Saturn games and they all work perfectly. And those who say that CD-Rs will damage the disc reader can get hosed because so far I saw no evidence of that. 3 years and still kicking.

Was the Master System super undersold or unpopular in the US? I don't know a single person who had a Master System growing up, everyone went from NES to either Genesis or SNES. Same with TurboGrafx 16

I remember going to a big chain furniture store and they had a 3DO set up in one of the living room displays. It was playing this game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvBIZ35dmMw and even 8-year-old me was like "they loving want $700 for that?" My dad thought it was the price tag for the fancy entertainment center they had set up the system and TV in, lol

Did anyone else just randomly get a Virtual Boy for Christmas one year as a kid after they were heavily discounted? People talk a lot of poo poo about it but I thought it was really cool. The 3D effect was neat-o and Galactic Pinball and Wario Land were p deece. Never had headaches or any of that other poo poo people complain about.
