I think initially back when they were pretty much blocking traffic as opposed to rioting in Paris

Yes, but. It was also because they were talking about cutting taxes on corporations at the same time, and also because for decades France has invested in larger cities while cutting funding on services for more rural areas. And there was the Panama papers as well as a few high profile scandals of the very wealthy in France committing tax fraud and facing no consequences for it.

When combined with everything else, meaningfully increased price of filling up cars, and being ruled over by aloof autocratic dickheads, some apparently, yes.

I feel like most news (not just about this, and not any particular news outlet) is terrible about providing context. It's usually just 'here's a thing that happened, one guest says one thing about it, another guest says the complete opposite thing, thanks for tuning in!'. They don't talk about what happened the year before and how that led to current thing being a big deal.

You don't get mass movements based on one-off things. It's about what's been happening over time and even a lot of members may not be able to clearly articulate 'this happening led to this happening led to this happening and now we're fighting cops in the streets/real wages have been stagnant for 50 years/etc.'

It's complicated, with respect to the UK I've never found it that useful to try and compare your major political parties with ours. I don't think there's a huge amount of variation in the way your average person on the street thinks from the USA to the UK and probably most of western Europe, if there was I wouldn't have so many american friends. The way the particular political parties are striated at any given time doesn't really match up in a useful way though, I mean just the religion thing causes a huge amount of issues and tribalism that's really different here in terms of what particular policies a party is going to be pushing at any given time.

I don’t want to die of alcohol poisoning thank you.

Also it’s amusing when he talks about the emasculation of American men when he’s a 5’2 propagandist. Like, can’t the right at least get the one eyed navy seal racist to talk about that stuff? Why is it always guys like Sharpie and Tucker who’ve never seen the inside of a gym, that talk the most about being manly men? Both of these guys have called the police on being “harassed” by “leftists” instead of “manning up” and confronting then.

Yeah, it's surreal. Neil was giving him every chance to turn things around. A real interview would have made Shapiro throw his hissy fit in less than 30 seconds.

I can't imagine the contempt Neil must feel toward someone so dense and brittle at the same time.
