Also on NXT this week, Io Shirai beat the goddamn hell out of Shayna, Marina, and Jessamyn. To the point of where the kendo stick was completely falling apart. It ruled. She did not hold back at all. Oh and Matt Riddle vs Roderick Strong was set for NXT Takeover XXV.

Who wrote the promos for this week's episode because they were really poorly written. Bad bad bad. You can tell Beth is super nervous on commentary, it's bad. Time will be kind to her. ...that being said, I marked out as Regal was slowly & deliberately setting up the tag team ladder match and he got to "and i will take those titles... and hang them above the ring" like  This TUE promo is too on the nose like they aren't going to break up. Makes me think they're just prolonging a break-up for a match in Toronto, but I hope they just straight up aren't breaking up. It was more developmental this week, which is cool. Good to see Sean Malutta and Reina Gonzalez given some decent TV time. I knew when Mansoor looked good against Dijakovic that he'd get a solo shot, had no idea it'd be this soon. When the cameras started to shutter, I thought "who's interrupting? who's music is this?" and got sad when I realized I've forgotten what his music sounded like. Breeze vs Dream is gonna own. I don't understand why Breeze isn't his character and instead returned to Full Sail with regular sad disenfranchised guy as his thing. BLOOD FEUD BLOOD FEUD BLOOD FEUD BLOOD FEUD Main event owned, everyone in the match was awesome, they're setting up Gargano/Riddle for Toronto.

It was odd phrasing, but Riddle was heavily involved in the reasons they fought. When he explained that they were stronger together, he took care of the Riddle problem because Riddle was getting in between them. Seriously the script has been poor this taping around.

seems to me like they're setting up Adam Cole champion -> Cole vs riddle in Toronto. or at least the latter match, but riddle being booked strongly while eating pinfalls implies to me he's going for the big belt and I think they'd have him face Cole, not Johnny.

Dave Meltzer wrote that today in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter pretty much: "The plan right now is for the Cole vs. Gargano winner to defend against Riddle on the Takeover show in Toronto" Strong is a great setup opponent for a title challenger. It is the only non-title singles match likely to be on the show. ABC booking really.
