Also, don't know if this still holds over the weekend, but the key guy said that if you have an account on the NWS forums, you should PM him if you haven't gotten your key within the 3-day activation window. Might be worth a shot, but if I don't get my key I'm not sure I can be bothered. Game still seems pretty buggy and I have enough other good stuff to play for now, so I'm happy to wait for another patch or two.

I got my codes about 3 minutes after I sent a PM through their forums: I think my original email got caught up in their spam filtering or something. It’s a stupid system and this is entirely their fault, but they are trying hard to make it work.

I got my code within minutes personally. But now for the life of me I can't remember where they attached the download link.

Took me three days to get my key. Chased em up on day two via email and have yet to hear back about the rtw1 “discount” will have to keep an eye on my bank I guess.

I emailed them about the discount when I bought the game, they said they'd get to it during the week but haven't heard a peep about it. Just sent them another email, figure I'll give them a few more days then file a paypal dispute which should light a fire under them.

Actually thinking about how big difference Steam would make in all this, and how many more customers they’d get who just stumble on the game. All the grog fans would get it from Steam, then other people would see it on Store and being played by others. The commission would soon not matter at all.

Even just itch.io would be better and they could even just set itch's cut to 0 if they wanted. But they won't do that because they've been working with Store Dude forever and the realization that they could just set up a store themselves and not need him for anything would break them. I don't even really want them to do that since Store Dude's wife just had kidney surgery and he probably needs the money.

Sadly the person who makes the final decisions on whether or not to use Steam can't even spell it's name correctly and consistently calls it STEAM.

I think some of the lopsided engagements the battle generator is creating might have something to do with how the algorithm takes into account things on your side you have no real control over like land based planes. Just got a "small engagement" that was two of my destroyers vs. three enemy heavy cruisers with escorts...which I actually won thanks to the cruisers getting absolutely hammered by land based bombers.

finally managed to get the game up and running and i can't seem to design any CLs. i'm putting in similar designs to rtw 1 and the game keeps telling me the designs are actually for CAs. is it documented anywhere how this determination is made so i can figure out if this is working as intended?

Are you using guns larger than 6”?
|
# ? May 26, 2019 20:48 |
|
No, 6" guns, smattering of submerged torpedo tubes, 1" to 2" of armor, protected cruiser deck armor scheme, 23 knots, 4500 tons pretty much a carbon copy of the initial CLs i would design in rtw 1

It's in the manual on page 62, though even there the designations tend to be a bit flexible. Here's what it says on CL: quote:Displacement larger than 2000 and less than 8000. Speed must be more than 16 knots and main gun calibre cannot be larger than 6 inches, unless it is a protected cruiser in which case it can have guns in single mountings up to 8 inches. Protected cruiser is a special armor layout for light cruisers, and the only one you can use until you get the tech for conventional light cruisers.

You know, other than violating the treaty I'm under, it's a perfectly legal design. Super fast armoured box full of torpedoes and AA guns that dashes in and shits torpedos at everything. Shame the game won't let me have a belt thicker than 20 inches. It's short of being entirely immune to 16 inch fire but, up to like 9000 yards it's good. e: lmao I just noticed I forgot to give my shitload of secondaries any armour.

imagine those are missiles and not torpedoes and you'd have an amazing missile cruiser

Also, anyone outside of the citadel is loving dead in any fight, what with that 0 armor for the extended belt and deck.

Well that's just kind of how the cookie crumbles with battleships really? Apart from deck guns most of the crew's battlestations are going to be in the citadel anyway.

You can think of splinter protection armor plates as "AP fuze arming plates".

RTW2 question: is there any value at all to not just throwing your mothballed obsolete 1899 destroyers into trade protection during a war? RTW2 comment: rebuilding the German navy in the 1920 start is hard.

No real problem with using old obsolete destroyers for TP, no. Keep more than you need around because they’ll have engine problems and go off TP every so often.
