Given the poo poo state of recycling these days, straws are the last thing you should be worrying about reusing.

Have stainless straws available in restaurants and wash them with the rest of the reusable dishes you've been fine dealing with for decades. Have compostable straws for fast food. Change is scary but inevitable.
