I stopped keeping them because they require a lot of interaction and I just wasn't able to keep up with them appropriately anymore due to work circumstances, but yeah, it starts being a bit hard on you after a while. I miss David, Harold and Eric.

Rats are totally unlike what I expected any kind of cage pet to be—they're like tiny, shortlived dogs. They're awesome, and I never want to keep any again—it feels horribly unfair for any animal with that much intelligence and personality to have such a short lifespan. Edit: Somebody should design a mod to fix this.

Basically just chiming in to say that I have heard much the same - they WILL die on you very quickly, but while they're alive they are astonishingly social creatures who are perfectly happy to be domesticated.

Gambian pouched rats can live for around seven years but I'm pretty sure they're not really available for most people.

Yeah, rats are the best. I always got the sense that they were individuals with personalities, and I loved all mine dearly. I'm also in the crowd that can't deal with the heartbreak every few years.

I've heard about Chinchillas also being good pets, although they're high maintenance they can live for 20 years.

I got a better functioning PC again. Is there any thread here specifically for Skyrim / FO4 modding? I loved both games, and also in VR. I'm hoping that there is some kind of mod list or mod pack that'll blow my mind.

I feel like the mod is skipping a more important question, because I am not questioning why someone put an animu toaster in half life 2, I am questioning why the animu toaster existed to begin with. Once you accept the reality of the latter I think the former becomes far more reasonable.

It might well be both, or at least made by the same people. Those types of mods tend to be ported back and forth and often infect multiple games, much like a sexually transmitted disease.
