How common is pedophilia if the first thing people do when they get rich is to pay to rape children? Or is it just a rich people thing?

isn’t Texas currently somewhat hosed by their own “independent” grid now being a deregulated mess with higher costs woefully inadequate to handle the states’s actual electric needs and since they cut ties to other grids they can’t even offset it by buying power off state? I guess that’s pretty Texas after all.

very few decent people ever become epstein level rich/important because while you can probably never cross a person and get a house and nice car and retire at 50, they're all on a level that you either get born into (which as mentioned precludes receiving sensible upbringing and socialisation) or viciously gently caress over a lot of people megarich people are typically hosed up, it's simple as that

it's the same sort of reason why creepy abusive 47yr olds go after 20-something women - the people they are targeting don't have the life experience to spot and exit the abusive relationship. also why companies with utterly hosed work cultures tend to recruit almost exclusively new grads, although forcing 12hr workdays isn't anywhere near the same level as the sex slavery Epstein and co were engaged in.

In even low level gangs, and probably especially high level organized crime (and spy organizations, and billionaire cabals), trust is everything. Trust that you're going to be loyal and not blow the whole thing up by turning snitch. The "standard" way of preventing that is by asking for dirt on each other. In a street gang that's called "making your bones", doing a murder for the gang that they know about and could now turn you in for anytime. In government positions they simply ask you for what your dirt is (security clearance), and try to ensure that no other organizations can also get their hands on it if you have any. In our society there is no greater dirt than taped evidence of pedophilia and child abuse. So in high-class ruling circles where consuming the sex trade is more their speed, they're all trafficking in and trading in exactly that evidence, only partially because it's chasing the ultimate thrill of abusing another human being consequence-free in the most forbidden way there is --- but also and more importantly for securing loyalty among gangs of crooks in the ruling class who want to enjoy a protected position forever no matter what. That was the entire function of guys like Jeffrey Epstein, who incidentally had indirect ties to Israeli intelligence and who the law literally gave immunity to despite admitting there was irrefutable evidence of child abuse and kidnapping years ago. In hindsight Salò was a documentary about the way things are. Happy Thread has issued a correction as of 19:17 on Aug 17, 2019 |

Kind of true but the problem is Republicans built a energy “free market” with no transparency on how the so called free market works so all the retail providers are full of gimmicks and dishonest advertising, all the suppliers have removed price checks and are trying to screw the providers, and the Republican government has thrown their hands up and said free market, more regulation won’t help! So for two days this week energy cost $9,000 a megawatt hour for hours.

an actual frog posted:nine bucks per kWh?! Hope no Texans left their teslas charging those days Yeah, about that, at the time we were signed up for a plan that let us pay wholesale spot price on electricity. It had actually saved us quite a bit of money as it cost basically nothing to charge my car overnight and between our Nest and general home efficiency we were not home during the most expensive parts of the day. Basically all those savings were wiped out in 3 days, we paid around $80 for one days worth of electricity. We switched to a fixed plan and the worst it did to us was cancel out out most of our previous savings, we paid it, switch plans and moved on with our lives, we don't live month to month, $150 bucks, eh, we didn't like it but NBD. The problem is, they worked on a pre-paid model and they were promising huge discounts on electricity, you know who else that might appeal to? It ruined people, over-drafted their accounts, no money to buy food, their electricity is not at risk of being shut off.
