He's outlived his original diagnosis by three years, at least, and it's obvious that he's been much happier during those years than ever before: he was desperate to be social and cuddly with other cats but afraid to be, and in his new home he got to cuddle with cats he trusted all he liked once he got used to them.

He got to live out his last few years in comfort, and seeing proof that the world isn't entirely a fucker. drat if that doesn't make me teary.

He had a heck of a good run, especially given his condition. Even without it, given ten years as a feral.

Cats rarely outlast us and at the end the most we can do is to make sure they go out warm, dry and loved.
