Helios Grime posted:Man that seems like a gateway drug to just using black salve, though that is in a whole other league. To be fair, unlike most "natural" remedies it really does kill cancer. It's just that it kills all the surrounding healthy cells too because you are putting acid on your face. And it's often "suggested" for benign lesions that would take an hour and a hundred bucks to have lasered off by a real doctor.

Because they had "cancer." Not diagnosed by actual doctors. They probably have tons of other undiagnosed diseases too, you know those doctors just don't know a thing and aren't smart enough to diagnose the myriad of diseases these people "have".

There may have been no diagnosed cancer just like "oh no I have this new bump on my skin, must be cancer!!!!" That or some naturopath or alt med type was all "hmmm yes this is very bad but these conveniently expensive treatments will make that bump go away." The times it got put on a nose only to melt said nose really stick out in peoples' minds as it's extremely disfiguring. Something like, say, a gross scar on the back of a shoulder doesn't scream "poo poo is awful" nearly as much as somebody's nose literally melting off.

They probably have tons of other undiagnosed diseases too, you know those doctors just don't know a thing and aren't smart enough to diagnose the myriad of diseases these people "have". I remember reading the forums those pictures were originally posted. A lot of it was self diagnosis with each tiny bump or skin spot was automatically a melanoma since according to the posters on that forum, they'd had them so many times they could diagnose them as good as a doctor. Looking at the pics some posted of their "cancers", you could barely see the bump at all. What was really messed up with that thread was each time the OP'd post saying something didn't feel right or look right from what she'd been told black salve would do, the others on that forum kept telling her that she had to have more hidden cancers than she thought and to keep applying more. Even with the posting of the pics of a chunk of her nose gone, no one was thinking perhaps this black salve thing's bad. Instead they were suggesting other brands or apply it in small dabs. Saddest thing was the OP went the salve route because she was she couldn't quite afford MOHS surgery and was worried about what scarring she might have from it.
