I mean you can preach anti-interventionalism all you like, but we've already been aiding the Kurds and used them as our defacto foot soldiers in Syria. Saying "welp we're done here, good luck fuckers!" and then leaving the Kurds at the mercy of your way more powerful ally is not a principled anti-imperialist stance. Just the opposite, in fact.

Had that number of casualties ocurred to uniformed men, you don't get nearly as much leeway. But it'd depend on the severity and context too. Smaller cases are routinely covered up, to be sure, but yea...something like hundreds or even thousands there is no way that does not turn into a political thing where an answer has to come in more than just words.
