I mean a lot of banned questions are banned for being too similar to questions from leetcode or whatever so that might work to your advantage 🤷♀️

For a career transition play up the transferrable skills, don't mention the ones that don't, be honest about previous roles/titles, and most importantly: explain why you're "passionate" about what you're trying to transfer to and why you're going to be good at it and "add value". Some companies are just going to want specialists so don't be disheartened. You'll probably need a lot of volume to land the first gig.

I imagine it’s case by case but I’m trying to get a feel for it generally

if you have a year or two of experience then youre pretty much good to go imho this is also the threshold where putting a GPA on your resume starts looking increasingly weird

also if you have less than a year at your current place you should have a good explanation why you'd left less than a year looks like something went very bad at first glance, but there are still totally valid reasons for cutting it short such as "fraud", "they lied about the position when hiring", "everyone was laid off" etc more than a year is at least "eh i stuck around a bit to see if i could make it work"

Well my own coworkers are now telling me that I’m underpaid and that I should update my resume. Guess it’s time to switch the job hunt from passive over to active.

I like when recruiters call me up and act interested and then just ghost me for weeks and call me back with "oh sorry I went on vacation and then I had a meeting one day oh btw that company is no longer interested, how about this help desk position in Idaho?"

I had one cold call me yesterday from o e of the local gigantic IT staffing firms and I hit her with “what can I expect for responsiveness? other recruiters who’ve cold called me never get back to me except with entry level jobs and that’s a waste of everyone’s time.” her answer was basically that she was different than all the rest. uh huh.

i distinguish between recruiters and head hunters. head hunters are the ones you want to keep working with while tossing recruiters aside. unfortunately it's impossible to know which is which until you've worked with them a bit. the obvious first tell is that they have actually read your linkedin profile and open the conversation with something very much up your alley. not always a guarantee they won't be shitlords once you respond but it's at least a good sign

any sweden goons know if 700k SEK gross is a nice salary for a DBA with 9 years of experience? iirc this should be for amazon (asking for a friend) personally i think it's a really nice take home in one of the nicest scandinavian countries.. maybe even a bit high maybe?

If it's in Stockholm then it's gently caress no. That city is expensive as balls. After taxes that would be in the ared of 440k SEK yearly which isn't bad, but certainly not amazing. For comparison my starting salary for a danish company in the north of sealand was 633k SEK with a masters degree in a semi-related field.
