Do you not read? Like legitimate question because you just didn't read my post. You and Bob are both perpetuating the myth and poor white people voted for Trump. That is the basis of everything you are claiming here. Those millions of people are all middle class or better. Poor people didn't bother to vote because of voter suppression and Obama's policies literally killing them. Somehow it is a great betrayal that they didn't both voting for four more years of that.

Also it's pretty laughable that you're trying to pull the "always white" bit here when the two American fronts for socialism are a Jewish man and a Latino woman.

Nothing about this is true in either your perception of it, description of it, or understanding of it.

Lets stick to what I believe for a second; since you're definitely wrong in regards to what I say but I can only surmise what Bob believes.

I believe that there are large amounts of people, lets say 35% in various economic backgrounds who are racist bigots. They have also, with some notable exceptions, routinely vote for the Racist Pro-Racism Bigot routinely by excessive margins in many places, for example up here in Canada looking at the "West" sans British Columbia. But where they are, mostly rural as the case may be isn't really relevant except as a predictor as to which areas end up populated with bigots and thus become Trumpists. I know my rural home area hasn't voted for the explicitly xenophobic racist party in a while. So obviously it isn't universal.

The issue is for the people in question; that no argument has appealed to them, the amount of energy and money and time invested in trying to convert even 1% of their votes is far better spent in increasing turnout in other places, in reaching out to other people just as hurt, just as poor; and in protecting and looking out for the interest of marginalized peoples; and this very loud concern over the behalf of "blue collar trump voting whites" is obnoxious past a certain point.

Yes, there's systemic issues at play, yes the media plays a part, yes Bob should somewhat know better and be better informed; but at the end of the day, their choice is still their own; they are responsible for it; elections have consequences; and a lot of marginalized people suffer those consequences. Do these rural whites also suffer? Yeah they do, their material conditions get worse everyday, but they see that a black person is suffering more and it gives a big ol' smile on their face; even if I can see how systemic issues are a reason I'm still going to be angry at that person and at the people defending that person.

I think its gross to spend so much energy defending the plight of poor downtrodden racists who apparently don't know any better instead of people who at least are turning out and trying to change things for the better. It has nothing to do with being poor, it has everything to do with being racist though and wanting to maintain white privilege and valuing that over your material conditions. Acting like the criticism of "blue collar white trump voters" is synonymous with hating "poor people" is disingenuous.

It's weird to posit I like the middle class better or whatever, I've been poor and on social assistance for most of my life; criticizing some small subset of people that make up a preponderance or rural habitants is not at all the same as saying all poor people are bad or all middle class people are good. I bet you most of the middle class people in red states voted Trump, gently caress em too.

yea to be clear at least for my part when I make fun of this poo poo it's the fact that he decided to mash together a personal story that could have been good told through the lens of how this bit of media shaped that and also this really weird breakdown of the game itself that completely undercuts the point? Like, if Mario 3 really was some transformative thing for you why waste time explaining every level of it, why break down this thing you love into such a coldly dissected product? It genuinely paints a way clearer picture of him than any of his dumbshit tweets.

Again, it's clear from overall context looking beyond that specific tweet he means Trump voters, which to be clear doesn't make it okay; but isn't quite as deserving of the current level of vitriol or you know, harassment campaigns. Others in this very threads such as Terrible Opinions seem to at least recognize this is true; though they disagree whether there is any distinction or relevance.

"Taken his future from him" was addressed, an exaggeration, being facetious; they didn't specifically take his future away, he's doing fine (though I do point out that Gamergate harassment did result in him losing his job at the Escapist originally before its reboot so it isn't like he hasn't had his livelihood harmed by the right wing); its more venting about the way conservatives are holding back the country from meaningful change, like combating climate change.

He "literally said" people should be Thanos snapped yes, but he also in the subsequent post says "Thanos isn't real ;)" implying it was a joke and not something he actually wants to literally happen; it was the wrong thing to say, sure. Though I do point out people on these forums routinely say the same things (about the middle class back in ye old breadtube thread) and people moved on.

For a time, like when I remember the first big LP of it dropping, the bad translation almost added to the weird dreamlike quality along with the strange and terrible gameplay. Since everyone was talking in a weird dream logic, the errors didn't stand out as much. At least in the Doctor's path. The others were straight up unplayable from what I remember. Although I think even the Doctor's path had baffling errors where objectives like "go down this street and turn left" somehow turned into "go to the right."

My only bummer was that I was halfway through a Pathlogic playthrough when I realized that Pathologic 2 was actually just a clean up and reboot, and that I'd struggled against a rough game for nothing.

Pathologic is the kind of game that's original enough you enjoy it in spite of its jank that you have to actively work around. One of the secret endings even has the developer breaking character and flat out apologizing for it.

Pathologic 2 is a reboot (can you have a reboot of there never was a series?) where it mostly tells the same story as the original but now the developer has a lot more resources and experience and integrates more modern game design into it. If you ever get the itch to play the game just skip to 2.
