I mean that graph is ridiculous in many ways but it does make the point that USA leftist policies correspond to European center-right/rightist policies quite well. European rightist parties call themselves "liberals" and that makes sense, they're actually really similar to US liberals.

I think the thing on the bottom left is some four-dimensional horseshoe theory graphic where they put the extreme left and right in the centre and the centre at the edges

Hmm, what's the best way to represent centrism on a graphic? Got it! On the outsides! Sits back smugly.

Theris posted:https://twitter.com/brenda_songy/status/1199301478751592448 Not to nitpick but conservative is not equal to right wing; by definition conservative tries to maintain status quo for the majority and not change a thing, right wingers go to the nationalism, and race theories about their right to rule the lesser people. Super-fundamentalist states tend to do the first, whatever the gently caress Russia and fascists are doing is the latter. But yes, the scale is somewhat accurate on that traditional European right-wing parties before the nazi's showed up tended to be something US politics would refer to RINOs or outright socialists.

Well, I don't know what will happen now. We've got some difficult days ahead. But it doesn't matter with me now. Because I've been to the intensive mountaintop. And I don't read. Like anybody, I would like to dance. Dancing has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do drugs and study skills. And trauma and mental illness have allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the petty theft. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the petty theft. And I'm happy, tonight. I'm not worried about anything. I'm not fearing any man. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the math.

If they would have flipped the axes I would probably like that chart. It's hard to read but I kinda like those "time is just represented by the lines" charts, whatever you call them. If the same data were presented in a better way I'd probably prefer that, just not sure what that way would be unless you animated something. edit: actually maybe just using a single metric "percent of wealth divided by generation size" on the y axis and putting time on the x would be a lot easier to read and still keep the relevant story. pangstrom has a new favorite as of 17:16 on Dec 3, 2019 |

Wealth/person on the Y axis, median age of demographic on the X axis. So you can compare the average 34 year old boomer's status vs the average 34 year old Gen X'er.
