It would be an appropriate content drop to end on, due to subject matter and also the rumors of its existence hanging around for years now. I think I read somewhere that they mentioned Diamond Club would be the last big content drop, which may be true seeing as it was the only major update released this year and they've said they're fully committed to RDR2 online.

I think that's the important thing to remember. GTA Online is pretty loving borked and they probably aren't getting their Shark Card purchases out of it. But RDR2 isn't like that (from what I hear) and they'd like it for people to move onto that to buy gold bars or whatever the gently caress.

Admittedly so did GTAO back when it was brand new, but now there's such a huge amount of stuff to do and different modes that it's a fundamentally different experience. And given the constraints of the setting and the much less tongue-in-cheek world I can't imagine it ever getting to 'stealing flying cars to hack a rogue AI to pay for upgrades to your government bunker so you can more efficiently sell guns to unlock missiles for your rocket bike' levels.

Personally, I lost interest around the time flying vehicles were being added, that combined with all the businesses which were added which essentially cost more money to buy and upgrade than you ever made and the removal/nerf of cheese missions to grind if you did want cash. I became a CEO and upgraded that almost all the way but then the MC content dropped which was essentially the same thing but with weed instead of crates, that pretty much started my decline in enjoyment.

I doubt we'd ever see it for legal reasons but there could be an incredible post mortem on GTA online. They clearly had no idea what they were doing and made poo poo up as they were going on but it still was a runaway success that made them a poo poo ton of money. How hilarious is it that you still get that "you are carrying more than $5000" warning even though the game has never ever worked like that.

Rockstar has so much goddamn money all they need to do is buy up APB (which would be extremely cheap), ya k out the customization engine and GTAO would love forever. Edit: For those that never played APB, the customization was insane. You could make designs using a huge library of vector shapes that you could color and squash/stretch to your heart's content. Because the game would just be loading the shapes, not custom artwork, you could make elaborate pieces and the game would just see them as basic shapes. You could then apply the designs to your car, clothes, guns and graffiti tag. People much more talented than I were recreating stuff like Starry Night. I don't think the problem with free form customization is technical, but rather in moderation. As soon as you give players any sort of creative control the first thing they do is draw a dick. The second thing they do is start with the edgy hate nonsense like swastikas. But I do remember playing Forza 3 many years ago and seeing extremely elaborate anime drawings on cars that were just hundreds of shapes painstakingly layered and stretched. It was cool.

Picked up this game on sale, been playing for about a week now, running drugs from my hangar, right as I am about to deliver my biggest payday ever someone on a floating motorcycle kills me. 10/10 will play again. On a more fun note, running more drugs, some guy in a chopper chasing me, shot him down 3 times before he left me alone.

Thanks lol but it gets even worse than that - my alt is at 245  There's not much of an uphill battle coming back to GTA - the casino stuff is probably the only real big thing you've missed. Arena wars is a ghost town that is also a huge money sink and of course there's still always crates, whether you touch them yourself or you have your nightclub touch them for you. Not much has changed other than some new vehicles and new casino stuff to experience once then it's right back to the usual things.

So if it's a casino heist then why would the Cheng family still be involved at this point? I mean I know that Rockstar had given up on hard continuity after the Doomsday Heist and Paige Terrorbyte missions (and some other Online story details that escape me at the moment) but this seems a little too sloppy for Rockstar - even if it is their B or C or D teams or whatever the skeleton crew they have on GTA:O is now.
