I have to imagine it would feel like a conversation where someone won't stop to even take a breath. Your brain would get so fatigued after a few minutes that it would likely stop processing the words.

It's a good short trick only.

It's a browser plug-in, which means you can probably load up an epub on a desktop browser but idk about phone: https://www.spritz.com/

Looks like they're the tech behind ReadMe! for iOS but they say that's a free app. No experience with that side of it.

You can identify words faster than you can actually absorb and retain information. Using the technique in that GIF to speed-read an ebook is functionally the same as skim-reading something on a page, you will get through it faster and you will retain less of what you read.
