Turns out it was supposed to be a Klingon mask all along.

RLM is good because they seem really genuine and they still make fun of people who care Too Much about 'nerd culture'. They also constantly poo poo on the big companies like Marvel, DC and Disney while so many other youtubers do not They succeed in this despite basically being living dork encyclopedias of Star Trek and Star Wars

I don't really get alt-right stuff at all on youtube and never really watch "political" talking heads stuff at all on youtube, I would guess that is what causes those to be recommended in people's youtube feed. My youtube feed is all RLM, MST3K, company of heroes 2 replays, videos about tanks, footage from historical lectures and assorted "making of" stuff about movies like Star Wars and the Thing. Based on what people are saying I think that should have led to some alt-right stuff. But I guess the alogorithm must have just given up on me. A lot of RLM dislikers on the left have just fallen so deeply down the "everything is political" well. What movies you claim to like or not like is an act of political signalling to say which camp you are in (and there are only 2 camps of course). If you do not like Star Trek DISCO or The Last Jedi it means you are on team chud and are almost certainly a Trump voter. The movies them selves don't matter, they're purely symbolic at this point. These people get super into this poo poo and are consume a ton of actual chuddy "anti-sjw" movie reviews and then watch the counter-reviews and responses and then the counter-counter debunks of those reactions. You'll say you didn't really like TLJ and they instantly project everything those 10 fat dudes in trucks said onto you, you are now one of them. Did you know [actress] was harassed off twitter? Did you know [writer] received death threats? How the gently caress can you side with people who do things like that? By not liking [movie] you are condoning those acts, you have joined the enemy camp. Basically a lot of legitimately terrible racist sexist gross right wing people hate poo poo like TLJ and DISCO, so if you don't like those things, even if for totally different reasons, you're one of them.
