The best police chase I've ever seen in my life just happened in Philly. Stolen ambulance by a guy that looked like Kyle Gass. There's a reason why wealthy white suburbs often fight regional public transit expansion: they don't want poor minorities to have easy access to their neighborhoods. The economic burden of car-ownership is a factor that city planners are fully aware of and some choose to make their neighborhoods as car-dependent as possible with at least the implicit acknowledgement that doing so filters out "undesirables". Might have to dedicate more funds to transit, but given the extravagant amounts we spend to subsidize car ownership, rebalancing our budgets to favor more efficient, cleaner public transit seems fair. lol at the idea of persuading enough folks that a car-centric lifestyle is anything other than divinely ordained and utterly immutable, though
