1 - Download - The Eyes of Stanley Pain
2 - Doubting Thomas
3 - that’s really about it. The Cleopatra Download releases (Furnace and Microscopic) were OK too, but I can’t remember the last time I’ve been tempted to listen to them.

Not sure if you mean all the one billion side projects or just his solo work, so:

Download if you haven’t listened to any of that. The early stuff is a lot harsher, but I mellows out by the third album. The Eyes of Stanley Pain is one of the standouts. First album is similar but not as complex. Later albums are mainly instrumental.

Tear Garden is great. The Last Man to Fly is I think easily the best album.

Doubting Thomas is pretty cool; only one album

Cyberaktif is a decent one-off industrial grab bag. Basically Bill Leeb replaces Ogre

PlatEAU is the only other major project that I haven’t checked out at all. I think it’s a dancier Download?

Edit: just realized who asked the question :). For sure check out the first two Download albums and don’t overlook the Sidewinder single/EP whatever it is. It has some nice alternate mixes from Stanley Pain.

To add - get the first Tear Garden album, "Tired Eyes Slowly Burning." It's of that era and is fantastic. I'm also a fan of Download's "III" and the newest one I quite like, "Unknown Room."

I'd say every album by Tear Garden and Download are worth taking a listen to. I like pretty much all of it but there's a huge variation in style. Especially between Tear Garden albums.

Since the next months are going to be pretty hard on artists who make most of their money from tours and live gigs, is bandcamp the best place to go to buy music online, or are there sites where they get a better cut?

ask the artist, but in general bandcamp's about as good as it gets - BC's cut is not more than 15%

Is now a good time to mention that Artoffact Records is Pay What You Can on Bandcamp? https://artoffactrecords.bandcamp.com/music

edit: just kidding! Wait until this Friday to buy from Bandcamp because https://daily.bandcamp.com/features/bandcamp-covid-19-fundraiser bandcamp is "waiving [their] revenue share on sales this Friday, March 20 (from midnight to midnight Pacific Time)"

Martial industrial is inherently fascist, this is sort of like asking for left wing RAC. The Belgian band Militia sometimes get lumped in with martial industrial but their sound, especially on their older and better records, has more to do with old industrial like Neubaten or Test Dept. with a heavy emphasis on metal percussion. They're good though and are militant anarchists: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPBtwfyLhCU

Hello Goons, to help out bands in this period of public health shittiness, what were your top 5 albums of 2019 (and links to where I can check them out and buy them maybe)?

Here's mine:
5) Eden Synthetic Corps - Gold https://scanner-dd.bandcamp.com/album/gold
4) Skold - Never is Now https://skold.bandcamp.com/
3) Wolfchild - Evil Calls Home https://advoxya.bandcamp.com/album/evil-calls-home
2) Neon Insect - New Moscow Underground https://neoninsect.bandcamp.com/album/new-moscow-underground
1) MORIS BLAK - The Irregularity of Being https://morisblakngp.bandcamp.com/album/the-irregularity-of-being

I got the actual disc of The Irregularity of Being in addition to the digital and Negative Gain sent out a pretty loving excellent compilation disc of a bunch of artists on their label for free.

Lyrical content could be described as drunken ranting in Finnish.
Incredibly hard to describe to non natives how war trauma, alcoholism and 80’s comedy samples make perfect sense. Earlier material is more martial, later has some pure noise.

RAMMSTEIN Singer TILL LINDEMANN In ICU With COVID-19

According to German tabloid Bild, RAMMSTEIN singer Till Lindemann is in intensive care in a Berlin hospital after being diagnosed with COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus.

On March 15, Till and his LINDEMANN band performed a concert in Moscow. Upon his return to his home country of Germany, he was hospitalized with an extremely high fever and he later tested positive for coronavirus. He was immediately sent to intensive care and placed under quarantine.

The 57-year-old Till, who was originally in critical condition, is now said to be feeling better and his life is no longer in danger.
