(For the record, I know these toys generally get made before the movie's even been cast)

Batman & Robin came up with the toy line before filming and then crammed as much as possible into the movie. That's why they all have several costume changes, and then there's a brand new Batmobile, Bat Bike, and Bat Hovercraft for like two minutes towards the end of the film. I remember being pissed that the original line of Jurassic Park figures included Nedry but not Malcolm.

It's a miracle that Jurassic Park never got a cartoon. Around the time it would have come out there were Ace Ventura, The Mask, and Dumb and Dumber cartoons all airing during the same season.

I have to imagine there were at least a few projects in the works over the years that just never got produced for whatever reason. It's not like Spielberg is against television, there was a Young Indiana Jones show for a while. Maybe he just hates cartoons?

Spielberg produced like half the Kids WB cartoons at the time. Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Freakazoid... Uh... That one cartoon about the dogs of various world leaders being a superhero team. Who else would make a cartoon about a Jerry Lewis internet superhero?

C'mon, y'all: From the sounds of it, could've been rad. And the art is fantastic, even if the quasi-Moebius style wouldn't have made it to air. Apparently they wanted to make it a prime-time thing rather than a kids show. There's a trailer out there somewhere, but it probably won't ever be released and may be lost. But apparently the series was never a real possibility because Spielberg was too burnt out on JP merchandising to consider a show. feedmyleg fucked around with this message at 17:20 on Apr 10, 2020 |

This makes me wish that actors in the mid-80s would've been given their own line of action figures disassociated with any of their roles. A bad sculpt of a mid-80s Kurt Russel carrying a neon green briefcase and pink visor to talk to a director about a role would be great.

There's a part of me that really misses how big blockbusters used to get their own TV shows. Even ones that were R rated. Some of them were actually quite good like the MiB cartoon. I wonder why they stopped making them?

The death of both syndicated cartoons and Saturday morning blocs, as well as the proliferation of cable, which gave rise to Nickelodeon, Disney, and Cartoon Network monopolizing children's entertainment for the most part.
