Haha I'd like some too...seated is just all I've done for first person games after briefly experimenting and realizing I'm just not interested in room scale VR even if it didn't involve both rearranging my furniture and a substantial risk of maiming myself and/or the computer and TV every time.

If there's going to be a Half-life 3, I sure as gently caress hope so. I'm certainly not going to go back to 2D for a future one. The very least they have to figure out a way to run in both modes, if they want extended sales.

I hope all future VR games, in general, involve less rummaging through filing cabinets for collectibles. It was neat the first couple of times, but I was sick of them by the halfway point, but still cripplingly addicted to resin.

If you have 1/10th the sales but sell people on a thousand dollar VR rig you are still pulling at least even, so they might take that bet. I doubt it, but they might.

I started a second playthrough where I'm doing no rummaging, only grabbing the glaringly obvious stuff, and I have more ammo this time. I feel like I also have a pretty similar level of resin.

Now I feel like an idiot for the amount of rummaging I did, since apparently the more you rummage the more the game hides your supplies.

How do you even tell how much resin you have without going to an upgrade station?

Put your gun away. The ammo indicator on your off-hand will change to showing your resin count.

I feel the same way. I really wanted all the resin I could find, but looking through cabinets started to get tiresome. I wish there were more clever placements of Resin and Ammo, better Combine Puzzles, hell, have resin built into Combine's suits or equipment that you have to rip apart and pull it off of but can't use the Gravity Gloves for.

Valve probably doesn't give a poo poo how much money the Index or Alyx pulls in, I bet it means nothing considering their revenue stream.

Sounds similar to Stormlands, they had a system a lot like Alyx where you collected alloys and deposited them into stations to buy weapon upgrades, but you could also grab any gun with two hands and break it in half to collect its alloy.

The physical interaction was very satisfying, and also made it so that extra guns you didn't need were still useful. The two wrist pockets in Alyx left me constantly wishing for something to do with all the extra supplies I found but had no use for.

Really appreciate that Gordon looks like a regular dude and not some juiced up action chad. He's an ordinary man in extraordinary circumstances. Although I do stand by the idea that G-Man implanted some combat training in his head while he was in stasis for 20 years just to give him a little bit of an edge.

I mean, he's mostly running around and shooting stuff and he's clearly a nerd, he probably learned that from Quake or something back before the first game came out

I'm playing through Black Mesa right now and I was livid, LIVID that When we jump through the portal to Xen we don't see Corporal Shepherd busting through the door at the last moment, I even 360 noscoped though the portal to catch a glimpse of him. For shame Black Mesa developers.

Why is everyone obsessed with Shepherd. Why does everyone want him back. One of the many things that made OG Half-Life interesting and unique at the time was that you WEREN'T playing as a soldier or a combat specialist or any of that poo poo, you were just an incredibly intelligent but otherwise ordinary guy. So of course creative geniuous Randy Pitchford casts the player as....Soldier Mans. :effort: He's not interesting and 70% of Opposing Force is just retreads of Half-Life's design (Pit Worms Nest is just Blast Pit with the serial numbers filed off) and the other 30% is badly designed, unbalanced combat encounters. Race X sucked rear end too.

The same reason people like playing as the Marines in AvP games, it's just fun.

Opposing Force was cool because you got to play as one of the soldiers that you spent so much time killing in Half-Life, and you got to see that the soldiers were dealing with the same amount of bullshit as Gordon and the scientists from Black Mesa were. I liked that Shepard gets left behind thanks to the G Man (I think?) and is left to survive on his own.

I don't think Shepard has a place in the current HL universe though and I don't see a point of him ever coming back.

Opposing Force was Half Life, but done by a development team that didn't have Valve's skills. It hasn't aged well compared to HL1.

I have a question-comment-whatever. Since we're all isolated I've been streaming my gameplay to my friends. I've been using the spectator window through OBS streaming to Facebook, as a lot of the people I'm sharing with aren't really gamers and don't use twitch. I've noticed that when I go back and look over the VODs it looks like I'm constantly looking at the floor, like it has only captured the bottom of the frame. Is this a common problem? Is it just because I'm 6'3" in a game scaled for medium height people? Is there any way to change the portion of the image that gets captured?

Finished Alyx. Eh.
I was SO done with Ravenholm 2 through 12. The 3 or whatever combine fights you get through the game were cool, especially when they put you in large arenas but everything in between sucks rear end.
I absolutely couldn't stand this dumbass Amnesia-esque level design, all linear set pieces and low effort creepy spooks and even that one pretty cool looking thing during the ending chapter was straight up copied from a bunch of garbage "horror" games, especially considering how they couldn't loving help themselves to not put a jumpscare into it. Really soured me on the whole thing.

If I would've known how the game was going to be beforehand I would've rather watched a playthrough of it instead.

EDIT: Also weapon wheel sucked, ladders sucked, guns were all mostly boring (especially the SMG which was completely interchangeable with the burst pistol), inventory system sucked, lack of any type of melee sucked, being unable to activate your flashlight sucked, constant inconsistencies in what parts of environment you can interact with and which you can't (why can I break this car window but not that car window?) sucked.
