so a few hours ago I mentioned the botched Houston drug raid that left two murdered by police hands, 4 police shot(likely by their own) and the officer responsible, Gerald Goines, now facing felony murder charges for fabricating this and virtually his entire career. well, we connected the timelines, he had arrested George Floyd previously in Houston. https://twitter.com/stjbs/status/1267589620348391428?s=20

It's super dumb of them to be hovering below the rooftops in a city where poles and wires could be (especially at night), but that's about it. hobbesmaster posted:I don't know what the height velocity curve looks like for a blackhawk but that seems likely to be in one of the "engine failure is unrecoverable" zones of it? The height/velocity curve for a slick blackhawk wouldn't be too bad and if they poo poo an engine they would be able to land relatively safely from that altitude, or depending on the area in front of them, get to safe single engine airspeed.

Fair enough about hovering - that low you'd be aided by ground effect. Anyway, have an uplifting moment shared to me by a friend that I haven't seen posted yet: https://twitter.com/Unnamedinsider/status/1267415249197641730 EDIT: Evidently this is from a year ago. It's definitely not Catholic because they have a female bishop. Catholics still believe since Jesus never EXPLICITLY said women could be priests that they can't.

@ crusty i know, and i hate everything the church has done to gently caress millions of people over that being said the easiest part of my dad's death was the funeral itself. just because i knew the process and was in a place i felt was appropriate and fitting and it did give some relief to have that in place as a temporary break from dealing with poo poo and my priest growing up was legit a really awesome person who was kind and fantastically interesting. i was as altar boy through 8th grade- none of the cassocks fit me or my youngest sister since we were both pushing 6 ft then and we towered over the 5'3 priest. He said he liked having bodyguards and would call me when i still lived in town to help him troubleshoot the churchbell computer system my dad did k-12 in catholic school and did two years of college before going into the seminary for a year. pretty sure my older sister stopped that dream. i got booted from an all boys private catholic high school sophomore year for weed and was punished by being allowed to wear jeans and see girls all day everyday so yes. this is triggering.

As the episode started I was like "Huuuh that name rings a bell. Wait did this guy write On Killing? In hindsight I guess that shouldn't be a surprise. The only parts of that book that are useful (On Combat, or On Killing - there's a lot of overlap) are the parts about the science of Body Alarm Reaction, perceptual distortions during fight or flight scenarios, etc. And all of that is taken from other books and research by people who actually did scientific research - actual academics that study neurology, physiology, officer involved shootings, etc. Everything I read in both books on those topics was stated better elsewhere in books or academic journal articles. The rest of the books were the sheepdog bullshit, terribly done research, the anti video game horseshit, and other random other poo poo I forgot about.

Do... do the guys at the top, Barr and Trump and the CJCS, do they actually believe there is an armed organized violent domestic terror group called Antifa? Like, that’s loving insane. I live in MAGA country, and a well off part of it at that, so no real protests or demonstrations here. But.. people in my towns FB group seriously think there are Antifa soldiers (or often enough they call them socialists. VoV) living amongst us and waiting to kill and loot and rob. It’s like everyone to the right end of the spectrum is just down for believing inane dumb bullshit. AND WHO THE gently caress CAN SERIOUSLY DENOUNCE A GROUP THAT IS ANTI FASCIST? It’s good people on both sides when klansmen get outta line but there’s people going after klansmen and white nationalists? ANTIFA SUPER SOLDIER TERRORISTS!!!

barr absolutely does not believe but is totally fine with the fiction to cement more power because he's an absolute monster. Trump might. It's hard to tell when he's just being cynical and when he's dumb as a brick. It's mostly the latter but sometimes his manipulation/graft skill is functioning.
